As I've mentioned before I believe that the key is Never Bend/Lalun. Still need at least another 12 months to see who goes on to be stakes winners before anything can be deduced.
Prejudice is an emotional attachment to ignorance.
DiEM25 for the world.

He’s a gelded son of Fiammarosa, who is also Hawkshot’s 2nd dam. The key mare might be Saving?
Again ran right through the line at 1600, but couldn't match Ronan's Rock. There's a good win coming.

Lot 63 for sale today in Tassie looks a fair size lad in the photo.

Doubt there will ever be a sample large enough to lock it in, but there would have to be some confidence in Ladoni's female line being a positive influence for Fiorente.

Much better than quite a few Fiorente's being offered on the mainland this year.

Reminded him of Little Phoenix who will race next week. Spicer mentioned possible Qld Derby prep.

From comments I have heard they have a very good disposition, this boy at the sale was very well grown.

Our young colt now just gone four and a half months is unusually big and growing rapidly.
Has anyone heard of the same growth rate for other Fiorente's foals?

Harking back to an earlier theme in this thread.... Mosh Music and her dam Dirt Music (if still willing and able) are maternal descendants of Doubleton. Progeny would be 6 x 7 or 8, I think.

From comments I have heard they have a very good disposition, this boy at the sale was very well grown.

Our young colt now just gone four and a half months is unusually big and growing rapidly.
Has anyone heard of the same growth rate for other Fiorente's foals?

We only got ours as a yearling, he’s out of an Encosta mare and he’s now 2yo, huge and leggy. A bit gawky but otherwise sensible and kind.

I could be wrong here but I think Kris Lees has a 3yo by this stallion that goes alright , a big leggy youngster who races on the pace , I hope I'm right as he caught my eye fwiw.

Great effort from Fiorente to produce Hawkshot to nearly win an Aust Guineas over a mile.

Had his chance even though had to work a touch for the lead and looked to get a bit hotter than the rest of the field behind the gates. Hayes said yesterday he will eat up 2000m so keen to watch him progress.

Stars of Carrum given no chance so wide around the circle.

Hello,
here in Germany a filly named Armance (Tai Chi-Argannza by Sinndar, won a Listed race at Hanover
in 2018 as 3 year old) traces to "Rossitor", she is the 5th dam.

Btw, "Dirt Music" is bred 3x3 Rossitor! An interesting mating would be with Kallisto (by Sternkonig),
it would be 4x4x4 Rossitor. Unfortunately he stands in Germany and is meanwhilwe more than
20 years old.

regards, Ticino

Decent feed bill for the two sold so far at Premier. The filly, in particular, looks like she'll be needing the extension at the starting gates.

Hopefully a top 3 finish in the champagne will add a nice stat for the sire.

So potentially two of his best to date (Hawkshot and his full brother) and not a daughter of Bahram in the dam to be seen!!
What is working here?

I would agree with kavg to some extent and say that if I was doing a mating to Fiorente I would make sure that the Bold Reason / Never Bend influences were there in some form . They appear in Fiorente through a 3x of Never Bend and twice being through Mill Reef .

Never Bend carries Nasrullah (9c) X Djeddah (13c) out of the family 19b.

Straight Strike is Mr Prospector ( Nasrullah (9c) out of Family (13c) )  crossed with Bend Not (never Bend x Brookfield reinforcing 9c with 19b .

Darshaan carries Mill Reef with Never Bend back to the 13c family again .

The dam brings back extra Mr Prospector and a line of Bold Reason  as well . All of the 13c and 19b influences are closely related as well .

There appears to be plenty more going on and you could make an argument that Pilsudski brings some of the genetic influence of Danehill and that Dschingis Khan brings some of the Star way influences forward .  That's the way I would analyse the mating IMHO .

Well argued points and likely they will form part of the answer.

A search for the "constant factor" in Monsun's good ones in no particular order:

Vadamos, Fiorente, Almandin, Shirocco, Stacelita, Novellist, Manduro, Schiaparelli, Maxios, Gentlewave, Guadalupe, Estimate and Floriot thow up a number of possible answers.

Of the 13 above only two, Gentlewave and Estimate do not carry Northern Dancer in the dam line.

Given Monsun himself is free of Nearco's male line (he has two daughters) it is possible Northern Dancer is providing the balancing male line.

(Gentlewave and Estimate get their male strains of Nearco through Nasrullah, Royal Charger, and Dante)

The interest in Hawkshot or any of the Fiorente's out of EDL mares is the female strain of Northern Dancer carried on EDL's dam line through Fanfreluche to balance the two ND male strains in Fiorente's pedigree.

Still early days, a little more grist for the mill, and wouldn't rule out the Bahram clue just yet.

HH,
If Northern Dancer was the key to ANY pedigree then this would be all so easy.

You are getting close HH...The sireline IS directing the 'constant factor' here...
Fiorente's nick with Encosta De Lago matches Monsun's nick with Tiger Hill, Appiani being the common line.

Go back to Fiorente's sire line and come forward from Bahram to Tamerlane and see where he takes you....connect the dots from there...

Fair call imo.

Have looked up a lot of his mares and believe me more than a few have been extremely ordinary.

He might just be a genuine upgrader.
