The tensions and hate build over time and what happened is no surprise.
I had an owner threaten to call the Police because We has a workman prune a hedge from 6 ft to 3.5 ft. On Body Corp property. The spokesperson is always the target in a blame game. Every community needs a Sherrif . I'm a good one as I have my own scaffold. |

My, this thread has gone south. Here I started out making a joke about us old folks planning ahead with a catchy obit and we find our contemporary are insisting the younger folks do to at the point of a gun no less.

The joke Shammy was about an 85 Year old firing a gun at an old timers Strata Committee meeting, Conclusions were I was a totin a six shooter and playing Wyat Erp. All is clear now , Whale is still lifting a huge weight when in the Gym area, Which is great if Jim doesn't object. |

So nice to hear that you are behaving. I thought for sure that reports of you going over the top with a six shooter were related to the Oscar Mayer weiner recall here in the states. It was a "cheesy" recall if you ask me. I was sensing sometime back that you might be losing it when you claimed you wanted to join the Marines. Good thing the 85 year old shooting the youngster didn't have access to the Marine arsenal in Darwin or a whole town could have been wiped out. I thought of you this morning as I got a spam email advertising 10" viagra. I thought that might be hard for even you to swallow. I'm for comparision shopping, you know. About a 1/4" is about all I can handle. Of course, I'm speaking about the pill. I've been getting a disproportionate amount of spamming lately. I'm wondering if TBV is not selling my email address to keep me occupied so I won't post. These anti yank postings are taking a toll on me. Considering the new ANZAC thread, I'd think Aussies would have more appetite for bashing the brits. Haven't you all heard that Churchill is dead. The other day I got a spam email with "Hi. Going Down." I replied "only if you are handicapped accessible". |

It's called the tall poppy syndrome.
Even the mighty Lion reaches their use by date and the minds of humans are no different. The anti America movement is usually from hot air types who couldn't blow a candle out. The USA will be there when serious chips are down and I think there is enough of us in other areas to be of some support, to keep the American Flag flying. |

Shammy, don't take it too much to heart, everyone hates Rome, it's not personal and not peculiar to Oz, as you know Yankee bashing is a universal sport, probably even more than soccer(football). Don't worry, China will be the new Rome soon enough and the heat will be off you You will probably then be suffering from attention deficit

Attention deficit? You mean I'm not suppose to be suffering with that now.
You know I've got to be confused when the main bashing comes from a member with our USA movie capital as his username. Of course, I've travel through a small town in Ireland named after the same. It's possible the Irish town could be the origin of the username. As for a war between OZ and Indonesia, please wait until after 2016. Anything before that we'll be distributing MRE's (dried combat rations) and combat boot socks as non-lethal military aid. Our Defense Secretary will give you some encouraging words like "sock it to them" or "eat'em up."

You know who the yanks would back, silly question. If I remember correctly our entire army [ 108, give or take a few ] were engaged in Timor and Australia had the pleasure of tens of thousands of American " visitors " doing exercises and taking leave in our North. Note , they weren't in Indonesia for obvious reasons. |

Take him to heart Shammy. BD loves to rattle the can. He knows we would dispose of Indonesia in quick time with our Tiger Moths. We are turning around their Navy now . |

From memory the East Timor 'give back' took place because Gus Dur righted a wrong done in the 70's by supporting and facilitating the independence ot Timor. Who did the US support in 1975 when Indonesia invaded ET? Who supplied them with the hardware to invade them? Why couldn't Australia, to it's shame stop it? Because Gerald Ford and Henry Kissinger met with Suharto the day before the invasion and sanctioned it. They backed Indonesia then, why wouldn't they back Indonesia now in a world where Indonesia will be much more powerful than Australia and allied to China? Sorry maxie, you are dreaming if you think they will go to war against Indonesia to save us.

I'm convinced BD .. No more watching Opra for me. Or Judge Judy.
Getting real tho. I would have thought Australia would be strategically paramount to the USA. Besides , we have Kangaroo's and the Anzus pact. |

We might have been strategically important a few years ago when they couldn't see China or Russia without satellite relays in Australia, but nowdays they can see anything anywhere with thousands of satellites tracking everything and China can do the same
China has a submarine fleet of 70, 10 of them nuclear and several capable of launching ICBM's with a range of nearly 9,000km, Australia isn't worth as much as it was China has missiles capable of hitting any American city from China(over the North Pole) Having them isolated and being able to spy on them better than China could spy on them is gone. America has to have a totally different compact with a very powerful, rich China with plenty of friends. We may not fit into their plans as neatly as we once did

lol Whale .. You would have gone mad around School teachers.
I didn't get much School education but was married to one who couldn't do 7 or 8 times tables . Yet I still can multiply any 2 numbers under 100 as mental arithmetic. I had the next door neighbour [ School Teacher ] contact me recently as she needed some "pailings" ] re nailed on her fence. I also had a long debate with a maths teacher , trying to convince him that a car travelling 1k at 80 kph and the next K at 120 K per hour , Does NOT give him an average speed of 100kph over the 2 K. I don't think School Teachers are very bright actually , in the overall picture. |

shammy, there is a fine line between brains and common sense.
i have never met a person who has both. people with common sense often seem to be able to pull themselves up in the world, and better themselves, but the brainy ones peak at a certain level, and stay there throughout life. thats just been my observations as I have gone thru life. and i am hopeless at math, but i can do basic numbers without a calculator or cash register to tell me the answers, unlike a lot of young ones I see now. i had a lass in a shop try to tell me that $10 plus $4.50 was $24.50 because thats what the cash register said, so not only could she not press the correct buttons, she also could not be reasoned with and work it out in her own head, and had to get her supervisor to sort it out for her. thats sad from a 17 year old high school student . now spelling ! Hmmmm, unless one knows how to use spell check , and has access to it, i see many mistakes from some very brainy people ! me,, I just dont care if people think i am an ignoramus ! i have made it this far in life and am very happy with my lot in it, in spite of an odd wrong word. |

my 1st response would be to say the average is 100kph. thinking about it I can see that it is less as the km at 80 takes longer than the one at 120, therfore the average is below 100 kmph As for spelling I have notices mine has deteriorated markedly. I would say it is of average standard these days |

So, Maxie, when some people say I've got horse gelati for brains, I should be polite and consider that they might be right?
I like to think along the lines that one can be intelligent and "common" at the same time. |
