Flaming Fast in the 3rd at Terang.

1200m as a midseason 3yo filly might be a little short but is such a succulent pedigree she is worth having a little eachway on her at the likely price.

The colted stablemate is also worth a try as he drifts in the market.

Of course as a mid season 3yo filly she kicks of over 1200m on a cement surface.

We wonder why our horses are not world class stayers ?

think it might lose the protest but a bloody good run - might be one to follow. I thought the ride needed a bit more patience considering it was his second run back and a big step up in distance

Ripper.....Protest dismissed

It was a tough effort given she was stepping up from 1400m to 2200m. Hopefully a nice racing career ahead for this girl.

Did anyone note that Fastnet Rock (who could hardly stay 1200m) sired the winner of the Sagaro Stakes (2 mile) at Ascot.  Won by five lengths with another three to the third horse.  Beat horses by Motivator, Tamayuz, Yeats, Sea the Stars etc.

Also doesn't anyway find it funny that the Queen Mother Memorial Cup over 2400m in HK at the weekend has two Aussie breds, one Irish, one USA, one NZ, one German, one French and on Argentine bred runners.

Who knows they might run last but there are two to one New Zealander so our stayers might be going to Asia.  Who knows.  They do like buying the Queensland Derby winner.

Our stayers are still here, Our trainers fail to develop them.

Watch how inconsistent both Furrion and Fifty Stars become under the tutelage of supposedly the best trainer in Australia become.

Anyone notice the winner of Race 3 at Pakenham today - ALESSANSRO.

Made his debut over 1400m and rounded the field up nicely to win.

He’s by Fiorente out of a Galileo half sister to The Offer, who won a Sydney Cup a few years ago.

It would be nice to see some of these Fiorente’s, Americains & Lucas Cranach’s graduate to Derby’s & Oaks races this season.

Good call LH.  Star

ps though early doors the word is Fiorente is already proving far more likely to produce stayers with genuine speed than has Americain to date.

Sadly LC will probably struggle re opportunity.

Not that I think she can win today, check out the awesome breeding on FLAGPOLES in Race 4 at Warwick Farm.

By HIGH CHAPARRAL out of a full sister to Melb Cup winner BREW - whose dam was of course the Japan Cup winner HORLICKS.

That entire ‘FROTH’ damline is just littered with good stayers over the past few decades.

Hopefully FLAGPOLES can ultimately be a late maturing stayer and end up winning a few races herself.

It's not like Europe doesn't run two year olds.  THey have smaller crops but I think more come out at two.  Just take today.  The entire Irish meeting was mad up of 8 races with 124 runners and 43 first time runners.  And every one was a two year old.  The brits weren't quite as bad they had 8 2yo races today with 88 starters.  We can do that in a day around AUstralia in April but I don't think we have an entire meeting made up of two year olds (with only one race with less than 10 runners - 8 runners).  One had 20 runners another had 19.  Six of the eight races had more than 16 runners.  Doesn't stop them developing stayers.  You can run stayers as two year olds we just seem to have forgotten that despite winning a two year old race you can then as you mature get out over further.

And amongst that was a 2yo handicap where the spread was 11 kgs 63.5 kgs down to 52.5.

They do not mind their horses carrying weight.

Hello,
the pedigree of "Wristband" is from a very successful Family branch in Europe. As example see Alborada (Alzao)/Albanova (Alzao), Quartermoon (Sadlers Wells), Yesterday (Sadlers Wells), Diamondsandrubies  (Fastnet Rock), All My Loving (Sadlers Wells), How High the Moon (Fastnet Rock), All at Sea (Sea the Stars), Allegretto (Galileo) etc.

Most of the above horses were bred by Mrs. Kirsten Rausing (Lanwades Stud). If I remember correctly
Albanova or her FS won races in Germany.

regards, Ticino

Hello,
sorry, I forgot to mention, a gelding from the same branch named "(My) Nordic Hero" (by Archipenko) was sent to AUS.

Djebel,
You must be slipping or maybe it's been the hectic spring carnival (Wink ) but how did you miss this one-Wolfe. I can't post the pedigree but by Novellist from a Sunday Silence mare with a common tail line to Dunaden. Just saw it's debut at Kembla over 1400m and looked impressive for a 1st starter. Runs in 7th today at hawkesbury over 1600m.
Prejudice is an emotional attachment to ignorance.
