Black book him for a few wins this 4yo campaign.  A midweek 1800m event at Sandown would be perfect 2nd up.

Samuel Langhorne gets to a staying trip of 2400m in Race 6 at Sandown.  Was great resuming at Sandown over 1600m, was solid over 2040m at MV (unsuitably tight track) & should be cherry ripe for today’s 3rd up assignment.  Expecting him to win well.

Affluential (brother of Verry Elleegant) kicked off his Vic career with a ‘just even’ effort over a mile
John Leek will be getting him fit and ready for a crack at a Maiden Hurdle in the coming months.

Wow, that element certainly provides some grunt to the filly Ticino.

She's already stakes placed at 2100m and 2400m should be well within her capabilities.

The winner was too good, but GGG ran home well for 2nd.  Definitely worth following, although won’t get 20/1 again next time.
GGG almost pulled off the Strutt Stks today at Elwick. Won’t be a maiden for too much longer.  I assume she’ll go to the Tasmanian Oaks at Mowbray in a few weeks, although that’ll be back to set weights & I think still 2100m (maybe she’s looking for 2200m+ now).

Interestingly Foxseal, if you take any notice of the handicap ratings she is well placed.

I like that she’s getting to 1800m at her 2nd start but thought there might be easier options to break her maiden at either Kerang or Wbool. Perhaps a sign of confidence from the stable that she’s lining up in a BM70 at Caulfield today.

The horse who beat her in debut at Bendigo (Deeling Aces) franked the form with a comfortable win at Terang last week too.

Race 4 at Kyneton today - HENRY ROBIN (NZ)

Not at betting proposition at $1.70 but this 4yo stallion with the Hayes boys made a nice debut at 1600m & goes to 1850m today.

Bred by the late Sir Patrick Hogan, by Tavistock out of a Zabeel mare who is closely related to VRC Derby winner & Melb Cup place getter Second Coming.

Race 4 at Hamilton today - The Autumn Acquisition

3yo gelding with Anthony Freedman making his debut today over 1600m.  He’s by The Autumn Sun out of a Stravinsky daughter of Brisbane Cup winner Prized Gem.  Some real Kiwi stamina deeper in the pedigree with names like Noble Bijou and Trelay.

Both the winner and the 2nd horse were tardy out of the gates settling last and 2nd last , worked home nicely with the winner backed into fav. shouldn't have much trouble winning races imo.

Today at Kyneton in Race 4 - ZEDWILLDO

A 5yo gelding who’s had 1 run in NZ in August & now transferred to Mark Walker at Cranbourne

By Zed with the damside pedigree including Mastercraftsman, Montjeu, Star Way, In The Purple & Le Filou.  One of my favourite NZ family’s with heaps of big staying race winners coming from it.

That latest is almost exclusively bred along sprinting lines.  The fact it's debuting over 1400 probably means its just slow.  Wink

Re Bush Girl, funnily enough I've just had a look at her grand dam's early career again. Her first start as an early 3yo saw her finish 13L behind the winner. It took her 10 starts to break her maiden and that wasn't until she got over 2000m, Early on, instead of calling her Too Darn Hot, Guy used to tease us by  calling her "Too Darn Slow" lol.

We will play the long game, give her time and hope that when she matures physically (and mentally) she will get better over longer.

Mmmm, I'm not so hard on Jess. She jumped well and took up a position early but you're right in a way, the combined inexperience probably told. I don't think a more experienced jockey would have made much difference.

I think the the filly has more to learn than the jockey though Smile As my boss said after the race (who used to be a trainer), "The filly wondered what this was all about after about 600m."

I'm guessing that we'll be off for a shortish spell and let her think about it for a while.
