Hey Gay! ... there doesn't seem to be a rush from the Greenies to glue themselves to the road where it really matters ... in the bush! ... where they have been responsible for stopping proper fuel reduction and bush management measures for decades ... causing the tinder box conditions that was just waiting for an arsonist or a lightening strike ... it's not complicated, not like Climate Science!!!

Not UNPRECEDENTED
Not CLIMATE CHANGE RELATED
Not THE LAST TIME IT WILL HAPPEN ... unless we ignore the thumb sucking Green/ALP useful idiots, tell them to fcuk off, and properly manage the bush.

This may be the most honest thing that PT has ever said ...

Hippies of Nimbin admit bush got too wildEmbarrassed

The greenies have a lot to answer for over the incendiary state of the Australian bush.

This is the view of Michael Balderstone (PT), hemp candidate, deep environmentalist and leading figure in the Nimbin community, which is now beset by fire.

“They (greenies) own it,” Mr Balderstone said. “The Greens have to cop it on the head, they have been obsessed with no fires and no burning.”

Mr Balderstone says the lessons from indigenous land managers have been forgotten.

“The Aboriginals say it is country gone wild,” he said. “We were just blind to their knowledge.”

The hills of northern NSW are ablaze with an out-of-control bushfire that, with an expected change in wind, could on Tuesday race for the coast near Byron Bay.

Des Layer has for 30 years ridden his horses through hills now being ravaged by fire. For decades he has watched the structure of the bush change from what he says is poor logging and lax management.

Before the area became national park, Mr Layer said, he would get permits to collect firewood from the state forests. Since the national park was declared there had been no permits issued.

“It has just been building up,” he said.

A generation of locals, raised on forest protest, are being forced to confront some tough truths about forest fuel loads and management. Communities that have been on the frontline to stop logging and expand national parks are seeking refuge as fire threatens to consume their homes.

Protesters Falls near Terania Creek, the site of Australia’s first environmental blockade in August 1979, is surrounded by an out-of-control blaze in the Nightcap National Park. Tuntable Creek community, a free-spirited community that grew from Nimbin’s counter-culture movement of the 1970s, was one of the first settlements to be evacuated.

Greens leader Richard Di Natale has blamed climate change for what has been billed as a raging armageddon. But even among hippies bigger questions are being asked about park management and the extraordinary fuel loads that have been allowed to build up for more than a decade.

State forests? Who owns and is responsible for them?

NSW Liberal National Party govt maybe?

You mentioned one fire of the active 130 in NSW from the Qld border to Woolongong.

Does Gladys own any of this, or is it just Greens who have no political power? Libs have been in control since 2011(That is 8 years in control) with Fishers and Shooters and now Pauline's pet poodle Latham owning her balls...not Greens. They have had plenty of opportunity to sweep and vacuum the forest floors as Donald suggested.

Nope, more Lib fail.

All the fires have started in National Parks or State Forests. Obviously the Federal and State governments are at fault in this. They have to do their hazard control burns in winter over much more of the parks than they do now. They have to maintain and cut more fire trails . You can’t control a fire if you can’t get to it. Farmers need to be able to clear fire hazards on their properties without having to jump through bureaucratic hoops. And when the environmentalist squeal about it let them.

Former NSW fire chief Greg Mullins was on tv last night saying that it isn't a lack of will that hazard reduction burns have failed this year, but the lack of windows of opportunity to do it has closed dramatically due to changing climate conditions. He said that he had presided over a number reduction burns that got out of control from either too much fuel from too much rain or more flammable fuel in Winter where it should be the optimal time, due to it being too hot and dry, and that this year has been even more difficult.

Frequent fires are part of California’s natural state. Many of its ecosystems, from the chaparral of Southern California to the northern pine forests, evolved to burn frequently. But since the 1980s, the size and ferocity of the fires that sweep across the state have trended upward: Fifteen of the 20 largest fires in California history have occurred since 2000. And since the 1970s, the amount of area burned in the state has increased by a factor of five.

Climate change’s stamp is evident in many of the fires, scientists say, primarily because hotter air means drier plants, which burn more readily.

Doesn't the media just lap this stuff up. You can almost sense the disappointment when things don't turn out as bad as predicted. Refuse to watch TV when this stuff is going on. I do worry about the wildlife though - poor little innocents.

Thats this year PT . What about the last ten? What happened to the cleared buffer zones around communities that allow the fire trucks to get in and fight the fire. Homes were lost in this fire because they couldn’t get to them. Probably there was an endangered green tree frog discovered there and it’s habitat couldn’t be destroyed to build a buffer zone. Well they’re all dead now, along with so much native wildlife . And the ones that didn’t die in the fire will starve to death.

Unprecedented dryness; reductions in long-term rainfall; low humidity; high temperatures; wind velocities; fire danger indices; fire spread and ferocity; instances of pyro-convective fires (fire storms – making their own weather); early starts and late finishes to bushfire seasons. An established long-term trend driven by a warming, drying climate. The numbers don’t lie, and the science is clear.

If anyone tells you, "This is part of a normal cycle" or "We’ve had fires like this before", smile politely and walk away, because they don’t know what they’re talking about.

This year has been an extraordinary year Baguette. Here alone where we have had 3 major fires this week, according to the BOM we have had less than half our 20 year average rain to date. The RFS Chief said on Saturday that the on Friday last week double the area of land burned that had burned in all of last year. A connection?

It has been a building problem as each year is dryer than the previous. Where are the govts who manage the state and national forest areas? The money can be best spent elsewhere until the disaster hits, then we will jump up and down and blame everyone but ourselves and say that now is not the time to discuss it?

Of course it’s the various governments land management that’s the problem. I’ve got numerous family members in various bush fire brigades out there risking their lives today fighting mega fires that if there’d been adequate hazard control done would’ve been much more manageable . Still bad but more manageable. The federal and state governments would be living the idiot Greens for popping up saying exactly the wrong thing and exactly the wrong time as usual and creating a diversion. Honestly the PR of the Greens is so idiotic I’ve often wondered if their spokespeople are secretly in the pay of the Coal industry sent in undercover to make sure everybody hates the environmentalists! It’s like the Greens have taken a course “How to really annoy people and look like a fool”!

I think it is more the case that people dont pay attention when everything is going well and it doesn't affect them personally so Greens are just p1ssing into the wind. Now everyone is suddenly paying attention so they are asking the questions the govt doesn't want to hear.

Exactly.  Its been allowed to go on too long by too many different Govenments. Its been made so difficult for people to do safe burn offs, or clear dangerous scrub and trees, and its built up over years, not just this year ! Add to that all the fire trails closed and over grown. All the heavy machinery used to fight fires sold off. Parks where animals were allowed to gaze in summer , which reduced all the ground fuel, are now not allowed .  Get rid of the brumbies because they are damaging the fragile eco system.
Well, its well and truely damaged now !

Is been going on since at least the early 90s . The environmentalists make a noise . The government sees how much money they’ll save by not maintaining fire trails and building more or as AS says getting enough heavy equipment in and say ok lets just lock our national parks up and turn them into giant tinder boxes.

Although there seems to be complete confusion about the cause of these natural disasters there seems to be no doubt about who to blame.
I ran out of coffee this morning.
‘F...ing Greens’ I mumbled, it has to be there fault.

I see Barnaby has shown again, that the voters in his local area would not know a deserving candidate if they fell over one.

So he screws his family, literally, showing a lack of character, and now he is saying 2 people have died because they voted for the greens.

Lets hope at the next election his constituents, or even the pre-selection itself, show him the door, to the nearest Centrelink office.
Remember, it might take intelligence to be smart , but it takes experience to be wise
