Where is Fiddles? I thought it had become unusually rational around here this week. Know why now

Don't complain AA> The mid day humidity in this Qld hot box is stifling. Apart from that the populations are smiling venomous reptiles who have set delusions that "they" are the greatest. Even believe Brisbane is a beautiful city. Grandiose to the extreme as Brisbane is hilly mix of ugliness with Public Transport to very few . Road infrastructure like rabbit warrens. Peak hour nightmares. Despite all this , after the flood destruction a few years back , This hot box has recovered and is now the largest growing city in Australia. Last years southern freeze has southerners flooding north and God help motorists in the years ahead. ( Buy as close to he CBD as possible for certain gain , preferably north. I still think it is a shxt house hole and as ugly as my ex.

You are certainly out of touch with reality Sub. Fiddles has a magic that makes him sadly missed when not posting , accusing , or complaining. I would suggest the backbone of TBV. May we rest in peace , The place is dead without him.

My ideal outdoor temperature is a sunny 15 or 16 so the world is moving in the wrong direction for me.

Well, that's no reason to end one of the village's longest running debates subby-
Unless, of course, Fiddles is responsible for Global Warming....

Chicken/egg. One of the deepest philosophical questions possible Macca, and far far too complex for me.
Hell I can't even comprehend how one big bang could create so many stars...... How's that for an invitation? Did you have blackdog neutered or is he off getting his rabies booster?

lol... They say to not ruin today with what you can't prove will happen tomorrow .
Look at the millions who die from the religion debate , when in fact ANYONE who is certain THEY know . Is legally mad. Don't you love it . WHO made the world , GOD made the world . Who the fk made God. NO answer is the stern reply Stay on climax change , it is easier to confuse those stupid Scientists like Flannery.

Talk about anti-climactic and cyclical, this discussion has been washed dried and folded more than once already. I've explained twice already Sitter but a pic is worth somewhere between twenty and a thousand words so take a look at the graph. It shows peaks and troughs but an overall upward trend based on average global temperatures recorded every month. Ergo if one month is extraordinarily high and all other months are around average it will - obviously - bump the 12 month average up. Or to put it in punting terms - if you come out square for 11 months and have a big September then you'll have had a very hot year on the punt. In effect climate scientists don't deal in calendar years when looking at temperature data (other than for simple comparison) so if Feb was a "statistical anomaly" it would mean little - in isolation. But as we've seen, Feb wasn't an isolated month, it came on the back of the highest ever average for global temps (since global recording began iirc). Think compound interest if it helps, if not ask Macca what the tea leaves say.

These climax change people amaze me .
It stands out like a red dress at a funeral that the cyclical nature of our world is purely behaving normally. You go through one climax and you change , >>. Must have a short break and the cycle starts again . Western NSW was almost in the ice age last winter . What do they put that down to. FYI.. A lot of people have migrated North to this shxt box Qld. , To escape the freeze of last year.

No scientific relevance? You're lucky the great Julius SM is no longer with us Sitter.
Let me repeat: it comes on top of the warmest year in recorded history; it is yet another month where unprecedented above average temps have been recorded. Monthly variations of 1+ degrees above long term averages are astounding. Y

They said they only commented on it because it was an extraordinary jump for a single month.
They weren't trying to say anything in relation to climate.

If there was no increase in temperature for the month would they have used this fact to talk down Global Warming....unlikely. So why use it at all ?....what is the point if it has no scientific relevance !

You thought ....WEATHER....? Do some reading Sitter, please.
They were commenting on overall global monthly temperatures, which roughly equates to (a snapshot of) "climate". Local temps etc are "weather" if you like. They may or may not have direct links to longer term global conditions (modelling based on a warming earth has "predicted" results similar to weather events being experienced in many parts of the globe). That said a 1 month result is of little statistical significance, apart from the fact that it comes on top of the warmest year in recorded history and months of big jumps in long term average temps. I was surprised that the Chief Scientist didn't make that clear in the brief radio interview I heard. He also fell into the trap of the "it's hopeless, we're losing" narrative which is very unhelpful for obvious reasons. |

Last night on Q&A all the eminent scientists on the panel were banging on about the 1.5 degree C increase in temperature for Feb. All agreed was very strong evidence re climate change. Odd - I thought it was agreed that a 1 month result was more likely to be weather than climate....probably will be if the month of March sees it drop off again

Super funds certainly have an opportunity to contribute to a cleaner planet through divestment in fossil fuels, but I don't think sceptics have one eye on their Super when it comes to believing in Climate Change. The older gen are more conservative and the younger generation are more progressive. Conservatives tends towards a user-pays approach, and paying out now so someone else gets to live in a calm climate is not in the genetic make-up of conservative ideology. The younger gen, even centre-right young adults, can see a point in preventing climate change because they will BE the using-payers in 50 years when whatever is going to happen to us will already be happening. |

If you want some eye opening reading, google Kochtopus. The world will be a better place for their demise. Some billionaires use their money and power for good, others pollute the gene pool.
