Thankfully he did ... he's up and running like a spring 2 yo ... and he's put furlongs on the field!!! I do feel a little bit sorry for the Poor old ALP on the other hand ... they just have no alternative now, other that to bite their lip and keep putting up with that unelectable prick FONC Shorten! Well it IS their ONLY policy - "Stability" of Leadership ... they possess "Unstable" Thinking if they believe that people will just forget the Rudd/Gillard/Rudd days and the chief knife sharpener Bullgelati Bill himself! Once again, he will prove the difference, grabbing defeat from the jaws of victory ... surely he will go down in history as the ALP's Greatest Ever Opposition Leader! How the hell do they hide the gronk for 9 months???

And yet the Liberal Party elected him leader not once but twice, 8 years apart. Weren't they smart enough to work out he wasn't one of them the first time? You dont have to answer that.

Good Politics is a level head . Turnbull knifed Abbott and got knifed himself ... That's level. Don't feel too bad about Malcolm being dumped PT . One of your Labor Team but had a pad near Mr Trump to seek Political asylum . The sewer Rat won't surface if the LNP prevail in Wentworth , But God help us if the Shim wins. . It will resemble JC Rising from the dead. |

Lucy fooled them, no, they were not smart enough. Funny though, Lucy was rejected by the ALP - wonder if she would ever have become PM otherwise? Oh, and in case you are still confused, the latest polls have told us why Malcolm had to go, and why ScoMo is THE MAN! LNP are now 1 point behind ALP in the primary vote and only 3 points from parity after preferences (who ARE these Greens voters?), and about 2/3rds of the electorate still agrees #nevershorten for PM - they have known him for 5 years, that ain't getting better for FONC, ever! - and almost half support ScoMo as PM, and they are only just getting to know him! Trending Now ... an unlikely LNP election success in 2019! |

Jesus Dr E - that would be the final straw for PT. He hasn’t backed a winner on here for years. If the ALP don’t get over the line this time I fear the worst for the bloke

Don't feel too bad for him oneone, he's got Gay Marriage and the Roosters up (they go hand in hand I suppose), PLUS an $81 winner that he claims to have backed ... and don't forget, he's also been complicit in having Whale released from purgatory!
Overall, not a bad decade, although, other than Justaroundmidnight (is he in the Derby?), I can't see where his next win will be coming from? ... maybe Taylor Swift?

How come you are suddenly interested in polls Doc? Morrison has clawed back almost to pre-bloodbath numbers and you think he is on track? If he is now only polling the same as Turnbull was, why did Turnbull have to go?

Very hard to hold out as PM with Lucy on the arm, and mouth wide open .
Now take Donald , he will always get 40% of the Primary via Melanie , The only fluctuations voters are interested in is necklines going down and skirts going up. Don't kid yourself that anything else matters much , That's why very few watch ABC news , For the same reason no one tunes in to weight watchers. And don't forget Hilary is in opposition. |

Why are you so worried CNNPT? ... could it be that the ALP/Greens can't hide their 9th most popular leader forever! Most Popular PM amongst ALP voters 1. Turnbull 2. ScoMo 3. Di Natale 4. Plebershmuck 5. Wong 6. Albo 7. Rhiannon 8. Abbott 9. Bullgelati Bill |

Made in Australia: Why the weaker dollar and Donald Trump's trade war are good for local manufacturersBy business reporter Rachel Pupazzoni Posted about 6 hours ago PHOTO: Australian manufacturers have become more internationally competitive with a lower currency. (ABC News: Andrew O'Connor) Prepare to start seeing more of the 'Made in Australia' logo in the next few years. That is because the Australian dollar's fall is leading to the resurgence of the local manufacturing industry. People like Ty Hermans are cashing in. Mr Hermans designed a lightweight, environmentally friendly replacement for a concrete slab in his parents' shed in 2006. The Polyslab, which is used as a base for products such as air conditioning units, was a big hit. "We started out as a product developer with one little plastic product that we took all over the world," he said. Designing, manufacturing and taking the Polyslab beyond Australian shores was the launchpad for a much bigger business. "Going through that process of learning to design and develop those products has sort of turned into a business where we help customers and companies develop their own solutions to product needs," Mr Hermans added. Mr Hermans is now not only manufacturing and exporting finished products for his own company, he is doing it for other companies as well, and sending those goods to more than 130 countries. All that global business means a changing Australian dollar is integral to his operations. "Some projects are as little as one or two months and some of them can be up to 12 months long," he explained.
The Australian dollar's rollercoaster rideWhen he first started in 2006, the Australian dollar ranged between about 75 and 80 US cents. It rose above parity after the global financial crisis, but now Mr Hermans is enjoying the benefits of an exchange rate 40 cents below that. "It's definitely less of an impact on us, less of a negative impact on us than it is for someone who's importing whole finished goods. The weakening Aussie dollar definitely makes us more competitive." The lower exchange rate is not just good news for Mr Hermans. "It's had a big effect on the ability to export to the growing markets in Asia," the Australian Industry Group's chief economist Julie Toth noted.
The AI Group's latest performance snapshot shows Australian manufacturing has been growing solidly for two consecutive years. "That's largely a result of growth recovery and particularly export recovery in sectors," Ms Toth said. The lower exchange rate is also welcome relief for Australian manufacturers selling within the nation's borders. "It's also enabled other sectors to win back share within Australian markets against the imports that they were competing with," Ms Toth added. The other side of the coinWhile exporters are applauding the current exchange rate, it is a bleaker picture for those importing goods. About $20 billion worth of raw materials and goods are imported to Australia every month. A lower Australian dollar means it costs more to do that. "The Australian dollar has probably dropped by close to 10 per cent across a whole range of currencies, including the renminbi with China, with the euro and with the pound sterling," David Chuter, who heads the government-funded Innovative Manufacturing Co-operative Research Centre, observed. Mr Chuter says the full impact is yet to be felt by importers. "It may be some time before that exchange rate impact flows through, based on how their contracts are made and where they're buying their materials from," he said. Mr Chuter believes now is the time to capitalise on high import costs, as well as geopolitical tensions caused by US President Donald Trump's trade war. "I'm aware of businesses in Australia that are moving production back from China to Australia so they can actually then export to the USA from Australia," he added. Growth industryConsidering recent history, the potential for expansion is good news. When Ford and Holden shut down their local assembly lines, there were cries Australian manufacturing would struggle. However, with 93,000 jobs added in the last two years, the industry is getting bigger. Ty Hermans is again looking at adapting his Brisbane-based business, expanding his customer base to bring in clients from North America. "It's far better, more cost effective to manufacture those products in our factory here in Brisbane, rather than manufacture these in the United States," he said. On top of that, products that were once made overseas are now coming back home. "We're seeing an influx of customers wanting to bring their manufacturing work back," said Mr Hermans.

What manufacturers?
We don’t have any down here. All the larger companies packed up and left under the, erm, reasonings of economic rationalisation, and, dare I say it, globalisation (but yes, I know, globalisation is now a ‘Marxist’ agenda). Do you have manufacturers left near you Isaac? |

That is the point of the article Softy - simple economics - low dollar is good for local manufacturers and we will see more of them encouraged to invest in existing or start up businesses. Obviously, our coal and produce exports become far more profitable too. Add some cuts in red tape and corporate tax rates, and we would see our economy roaring, just like the USA under Trump! Unless the ALP/Greens get into government and tax them out of existence, as promised, along with homeowners and retirees ... then it won't matter, we will all be fcuked!
