Christopher Paaaaayne is in deep do-do for letting the cat out of the bag! The hope that stealing all of the Socialists' agenda would gain the Libs some traction in the polls was as stupid as knifing a first term democratically elected PM. Pretty sure that the plan was to see how this flew (see below), and if Malcolm TurnLeft didn't get the required bounce in the polls, he would "give up meekly" like a Gai Waterhouse odds on pop, withdraw from the leadership, with Gay Marriage his legacy ... but since Chris has f***ed it up, now what??? Liberal MPs ‘secretly drafting private members’ bill to legalise same-sex marriage’ A PUSH within the Liberal Party to legalise same-sex marriage is gaining traction with one of Malcolm Turnbull’s cabinet ministers openly backing the plan. Aged Care Minister Ken Wyatt has publicly backed a plan by two Liberal backbenchers to hold a conscience vote on marriage equality, which goes against the party’s line that only a plebiscite will move the controversial issue forward. Fairfax Media reports WA Liberal senator Dean Smith and NSW Liberal MP Trent Zimmerman have been secretly drafting a private members’ bill for the conscience vote that they hope to present to Parliament. Debate has flared on marriage equality again after audio leaked of Defence Industry Minister Christopher Pyne saying marriage equality could happen “sooner than everyone thinks”. “I think we need to allow people within the Parliament who have strong views to reflect the option of voting according to their conscience,” Mr Wyatt told the ABC this morning. The Minister said he would personally vote in accordance with the views of his WA electorate of Hasluck, which covers the eastern suburbs of Perth, to not allow same-sex marriage. “I still go back to the fact that, for me, it is about the representation that has been made to me within my electorate that I will take forward,” he said. Prime Minister Turnbull has ruled out allowing the private member’s bill to come to a vote. Mr Turnbull told radio station 3AW this morning the party would stick to its policy of holding a plebiscite before any vote in Parliament on marriage equality. But he left the door open to changing the policy before the next election. “The next election is two years away,” Mr Turnbull said. “We will examine our policies in the lead-up to the next election. “But we made a commitment at the last election that we would have a plebiscite.” Labor and the Greens have been pushing for a conscience vote after voting to block a plebiscite on marriage equality in November. Fairfax reports it would take only a handful of Liberal MPs to side with the ALP and cross bench in the lower house to reach an absolute majority of 76 votes and force the draft conscience vote bill to be considered. http://www.news.com.au/national/liberal-mps-secretly-drafting-private-members-bill-to-legalise-samesex-marriage/news-story/65317e5d4bf7f0dd0e040adb3013cc07 |

Colourful but accurate
The Liberals are a shambles. Split down the middle like a baboon's arse, they are engrossed in ideological feuds and personal hatred.

I think So. Would appear the motors are warming up for Turnbull Team to be ripped apart over coming months. Be interesting if Abbott did get back in . The LNP < NO HOPE with Turnbull driving. The man has nothing that attracts support . Donald Trump has Melanie. |

Say what you like about Pyne but he's no fool. Can't believe he would make those comments not knowing they would get out. Maybe they are confident they have the numbers. Also can't believe Bernardi would have left if he thought there was any chance the loony right would regain control, despite the man's seemingly limitless ego.
Either way, they're just handing this to Shorten.

So a conscience vote, that is, doing what you consider the the right thing to do, not what you are ordered to do, will be a terrible thing for Abbott and the far right of the so-called Liberal Party? I thought that was what distinguished Liberals from the comrades of the socialist party.

I don't understand why they don't seem to "get it", that pretending to be the ALP will not get them any support from ALP voters, but will disaffect their base ... when they are another 20 seats down on their 14 seat loss at the last election ... when it worked so well doing nothing ... Mr Paaaaahhhhne actually told them on Q&A that he wasn't concerned, as the Liberal voters have nowhere to go, except other conservative parties, who will preference the Libs anyway ... that's the kind of elitist arrogance that has worked so well in politics of late too! ... if they go to the next election under their Green leadership, the LNP could be looking at a term on the bench, and Australia could be back in the dark ages and enjoying "the recession we had to have" under the socialists ...

The dog packs are really tearing Turnbull apart.
I think he would be wise to develop some health issues and bow out gracefully. Being eaten alive will be so humiliating for this Meglomaniac who only knows power trips ( A legend in his own mind ) |
