Spread the solar farms out, unlikely that it'll be cloudy everywhere. Diversify the renewable options available, eg wind turbines or tidal.

Not sure why you lot on the right get yourselves so worked up over renewables, surely leaving a cleaner world for your descendants can't be a bad thing?

I thought the Victorian blackouts were because 2 broken down coal stations were under repair and closed(not sure why the operators wait till mid summer to do maintenance)), and they had to get solar and wind energy stored in SA huge battery pumped in to prop up the system.

It’s quite perverse isn’t it?

They’ve gone from piously screaming that it’s wrong to subsidise renewables.
To now demanding that Government subsidises coal fired power plants to allow them to be competitive.

And when the coal fired plants are off line, it’s the fault of renewables......

True conservatives so simply fear any change, don't they? If Tones were around at the time I reckon he would have opposed motor cars being introduced for example.

I would have thought given how successful you claim to be, $20k would just be a rounding error...

So owning a subway franchise isn't that lucrative?

"Mr Dutton tells Ray Hadley ASIO, the Defence Force, Operation Sovereign Borders and lawyers have all told the Opposition leader the bill would have disastrous consequences."

Is there any truth to that because on face value it seems ludicrous. ASIO, the Defence Force, Operation Sovereign Borders think that bringing people to Australia on medical advice to get medical treatment will ruin us.Wacko What is their argument, assuming they ever made it? Or is that top secret?

Just going on people,s reactions out here in the sticks.  ( No latte sippers here ).  Most feel they would be better treated on Narau by a fly in fly out medical team,  ( who needs to be transported to Ozz for constipation ?? )  and all that money flying them and families here could be better spent looking after our own.    Better yet, build a hospital there, and help benefit the locals as well as the que jumpers.

aa, it's more outrageous than ever!

They HAVE a fantastic Hospital, that WE have partially built!

It seems perfectly adequate for the medical needs of 10,000 NAURUANS fiddlesticks!

On the island, they have ONE (1) AUSTRALIAN TAXPAYER FUNDED MEDICAL STAFF for every SEVEN (7) REFUGEES ... what are the ratios in your area aa? ... how about in remote Aboriginal settlements where children are being raped to death and women having their skulls bashed in?

The last MEDICAL EMERGENCY was as you mentioned, a woman with SEVERE STOMACH PAIN, who cost $100,000 to be evacuated - she was found to be suffering from ... CONSTIPATION!Pinch ... if only it was funny.

She is STILL IN AUSTRALIA ... just like the last 400 MEDICAL EVACUATIONS, because, as soon as they land here, they have United Nations Refugee Advocate Lawyers and Legal Teams filing court claims to keep them here, costing millions more ...

EVERY ONE OF THE 1,000 REFUGEES STILL ON NAURU/MANUS is undocumented and have been found NOT GENUINE ... otherwise, they would have been processed and accepted.

Border Security will be diluted as soon as the votes are counted if the Government is deposed ... The GREENS are now in charge of the Labor Party ... which is actually more appealing than BULLgelati BILL being in charge, and may well help them!Embarrassed

Dunno what the ratios are here ??   A few nurses in the local cottage hospital that we have to fight tooth and nail to keep open.  And local fund raisers keep it in equipment because the Govnt dont spend a penny. And its not the only country hospital hanging on by its toe nails.   Otherwise its off to John Hunter.   And believe me, for a huge hospital that takes in from a vast area, it aint no piece of cake being in there.  At all !!
But hey !  Lets worry about the ,,,mostly,,,,illegal,,,,,reffos on Naru.  And give them free entry into Ozz.  And all the free care as well.
Spend it on them and forget about country hospitals that cater for those who have worked and paid taxes all their life ,
Let your fingers do the walking is the catch cry here .

Government ministers are blanketing the airwaves with threats that the boats will start again and that the "thousands" of transferees will be in Australia within a month.

But the Government is highly selective in the information that it releases on asylum seekers.

For example, while we are told that they have "stopped the boats", little has been said about the record 27,000 on-shore asylum applications in 2018. Most claimants have come by plane from Malaysia and China.

While most of those sent to Manus and Nauru have been recognised as Convention refugees, only about 2 per cent of these on-shore arrivals succeed in their claims.

Many seem to be using asylum processes as a back door to temporary work visas.

This should ring alarm bells that major trafficking operations have begun to flourish here.
