"There is no need to explain any of that stuff to a true patriot on the eve of ANZAC Day."

Doesn't that commemorate the day we invaded a Muslim country and got our arses kicked. C'mon, it's been 100 years. Still seething, Doc?

This is why the 457 thing was a stunt this week and will end up having little effect. We need skilled workers to stay beyond 4 years as citizens, and the govt wants them to keep the economy growing. They just have to fool the Pauline voters otherwise

Have you actually seen the list of occupations available to 457 vistas.

It's a joke, they were surely taking the piss

Now that I think about it, it is odd that military people prefer right wing politicians since it is right wing politicians who start most of the wars. Maybe that's why they prefer them.

Some people are confused by this smoke and mirrors trick though.  A question from a person(seemed to be personally involved) on Q and A last night about the skilled workers visas and citizenship pathways, specifically applying to doctors coming here. His suggestion was that without those pathways, many professionals will no longer come here, and as they are targeted at rural areas, services in the regions will suffer.

I can see the merit in 457 visas for regional medical service providers, like doctors if their is a dire shortage. thats where it would work well and have merit.

metropolitan health services/hospitals are also full of overseas doctors. As are local GP practices. i wonder what the cause of the apparent shortage is there.

Everyone's studying law. Seriously though, doctor's numbers are increasingly skewing toward medical specialty, the difference in remuneration is big and getting bigger.

GPs tend to have partners who have full-time careers in the professions. Professional women married to male GPs don't want to live in the bush; Professional men married to female GPs don't want to live in the bush.

'Lest we forget (Manus, Nauru, Syria, Palestine)': ABC presenter and Muslim activist slammed over 'disrespectful' Anzac Day remarks - weeks after she declared Islam 'the most feminist religion'

ABC presenter and Muslim activist Yassmin Abdel-Magied has been slammed for publishing a 'disrespectful' Anzac Day post to Facebook.

'Lest we forget (Manus, Nauru, Syria, Palestine),' she said on Tuesday afternoon.

Ms Abdel-Magied quickly deleted the post and said: 'It was brought to my attention that my last post was disrespectful, and for that, I apologise unreservedly.'

Speaking of Manus and gracious apologies, has Dutton apologised yet for the appalling lies he was caught out telling last week and Sunday?

PNG Police Rubbish Dutton's Claims About Manus Shooting

There is "no link" between the shooting and allegations about a child being "led away", police say.

You seem to start a few of your posts with "you just embarrass yourself" these days, Doc. Which, judging by what follows is the equivalent of "Here, hold my beer and watch this". But less amusing.

Scott Morrison has started to redefine what is included as contributing to deficit, removing capital expenditure or so called "good debt".

He was told by the IMF that his shifty accounting practice of counting savings from zombie savings would not save our AAA rating. This is apparently his response.

Does this then mean that School Halls and Pink Batts are now redefined retrospectively as ''good debt'' and removed from the deficit? Will Liberals now stop wailing about them?

Hey, maybe Peter Garrett can return to politics? ... no, he'll stick to music - he knows first hand what a farce left wing politics really is ... you are pathetic.

LOL Settle down snowflake. If we are going to get all self righteous about disastrous political decisions, we shouldn't forget Howard's Iraq war lies(how many died there?) or oil for wheat with a country were so incensed about we had to go to war, but still trade with?

I actually agree with taking infrastructure spending, as long as it is independently determined to return a positive dividend. Have always argued for it.

By removing ''good'' expenditure from the political argy-bargy we might actually get a proper mobile network, NBN and rail and road infrastructure. It removes the politics for it.

I hope they dont go to water on this as they are doing on everything else. It is a good idea

Journo- the energy companies are paying no tax.

Turnbull- if the energy companies are not obeying the tax law they will be prosecuted.

(Unsaid- the law is rooted, Boy Wonder.)

Did that even pass for a persuasive answer in schoolboy debating where Turnbull was supposed to be a whiz, though I find that very hard to believe.
