Ada is correct, It is sarcasm, I do know the Japanese as a whole are outstanding with stayers. Australia as a whole, with Weir included is not. They all do the same thing.

The Caulfield Cup is not the race for Admire Deus, It is the lead up race for his target The Melbourne Cup. Weir should be looking at it in that manner. If they happen to win it is a bonus but the Melbourne Cup is his main chance for success.

You could do worse than ask Gay to tell Weir you know just where he's going wrong.  Wink

I don't think Darren would be fluent in djebel-speak. I am unable to fathom it about 50% of the time, as much as his contributions add colour to the scene.

Weir is sure to lift now, on the strength of that appraisal. Always happens.

Well not a star imo, but won't be a maiden for long on that run and out of his class, but the trouble will be how he's placed, THAT may be the problem.

Absolutely.

He is bred to win a Caulfield Cup.

His longest losing streak is 46, going back nearly 18,000 runners.

Quite a few trainers appear to be having trouble transitioning to the Spring.

Griffiths 4/55, Price 4/55, Hayes 2/23 and 8/50 only if you include four winners at 3rd class meetings.  And Hickmott 4/50 odd but we only remember his winners in Almandin and Foundry in particular..

All such "droughts" need to be examined for statistical significance, by a "chitest", to establish if it more than just the vagaries of mere chance.

55 as of Sept 17 & more outs now.
Swings & roundabouts but anyone following would be advised to hang fire with cash 'till the drought breaks.
Bear in mind with his older, carnivals horses, he's repeatedly said the dunes that he can no longer use, gave him an edge.
Also, his imports need give in the ground.

Certainly poor in the second half of September, 126 runners at an average price of $6.5, but just 11 winners.

The Hayes stable has had 9 wins from the last 63, at an average of $7.7 (fixed), which, while not a significant sample, certainly does not support the idea of a slump.

I wouldn’t be too worried.
The horses have all been running well.
Lots of placings, just not good enough to win.
It happens, that’s the game!!
