    Posted: 21 Dec 2012 at 6:48am

Earlier in December, the Daily Telegraph reported that the Queen had annointed Gai Waterhouse as a royal trainer and was transfering CARLTON HOUSE from Michael Stout to Gai's care.  Got me wondering if this was not in preparation of standing CH in Australia?

Any other STREET CRY stallions standing in Australia?

Yes there are Shammy.

Street Sense, Street Hero, Street Boss, Globetrotter.

CH will be a welcome addition. IMO, the more SC blood the better. They are all free of Danehill which can only be good in widening the gene pool.

And this fellow is actually free of Northern Dancer which is very rare in these parts.

There's a 'nice' NZ stud with a very respectable history that will suit Carlton House to a tee.

Plus NZ has Per Incanto and the Aussie-bred Melbourne Cup winner Shocking. Street Hero was only here for a couple of years, and Street Sense didn't come last spring - not sure if he's still on the shuttle (and if so, whether from US or Japan).

<I couldn't find any CH topics, but if so, please Merge Smile, ty >

I really like Carlton House's pedigree of Street Cry and Bustino / Mill Reef / Grey Sovereign ...
but wondering why there is not much interest in him?

I've assumed 'not much interest' because he covered 40 mares for his first season and his second season stud fee is half price.

Just wondering what is the cause for aversion, so I can factor that in ... Embarrassed

Otherwise, a son of Street Cry son to breed a stayer?

I have not seen CH in person, maybe someone who has seen him can make comment?

From online look-see on CH, there are some average images and nice images, so I'm not sure.

Goldey, I saw him at Darley in the Hunter and have some OK pics/happy snaps of him, unlike those strange professional photos that Darley seem to go with.  ( I imagine they pay a fortune for a high end photographer but gee the photos dont do much for me ).
Maybe I can get Gay to put some here and you can see what you think,,and tell me .

I thought he was a heavy type.  Nice bone - not light at all for a stayer.

As you would expect, he wont throw early types IMO - going to take some time to develop.

A good chance to breed a stayer if you want to. Not overaced & not over serviced.

If I had enough mares, I would send one to him.

Looks like he may have only achieved approx 15 mares in foal. Starting late in the season didnt help.

Despite this, looks like he has 4 blacktype mares (either performed or produced) in foal which is 1 more than Uncle Mo & 1 less than Zoffany.

Interestingly - Sepoy had 51 blacktype mares in foal.

Studbook doesn't have him as deceased, imagine he's been dropped as uncommercial, not great numbers for a Darley hunter stallion....

Pity is he does have quite a nice pedigree.  Street Cry can get a sire son.  They probably through he had no speed to add to the pedigree!  What do our mares have in abundance.

Hopefully Qld , we need a bit of a stamina influence up here imho . Love Bustino up close, nice source of stamina, especially with the 1n female line to complement.

Very surprising to see Carlton House hooked so quickly by Darley I think he's a cracking type a solid beautifully built horse with a high cruising speed and stamina not some thing we have an abundance of. He very nearly one the QE2 G1 held at the first Chapionships at Randwick leading all the way on three legs apparently... he was actually a very precocious speedy type as a younger horse before being Injured and was never quite the same but still raced on and certainly held his own at the highest level in Australia! as a few others have said I am really dissapointed I think he would have actually made an outstanding addition to the Australian Bloodlines given time and opportunity hopefully someone gets hold of him and gives him a decent run in Australia or we might live to rue the day...

The truth is out there....sometimes. Power corrupts absolute power corrupts absolutely
