We're talking about sales popularity here.  These sales come up half way through the year and the market reacts to early season performances.

If you like him then it might be a good time to buy a yearling.  Like the vast majority of new sires the best value often comes with their 2nd crop.  If he throws a couple of good ones then the prices will be back up the following year.

This bloke is on fire, got a third place at Bendigo yesterday.

His progeny at the moment are tending to be of Elusive Quality.

Reinforcing Sepoy's female line by using Canny Lad and also the horse Tourbillon, on the male line of  many mares lower in the pedigree (to line breed to Mr Prospector,) could be a good way to maximize ones money spent with this stallion.

yes will be very interesting to see the results as years go by, the success or failure he has with mares carrying Canny Lad.

Rothesay and Ghibellines in New Zealand will have a similar pattern

When Zabeel's female line (that of Le Filou) was reinforced using Vice Regal mares that stallion produced a Group One winner 1 in every 8 named foals, way above his own average of  1 in 30 odd.

Like wise when Redoute's Choice has his female line reinforced with Last Tycoon mares his average of producing a Group One winner jumps to 1 in 13 in stead of 1 in nearly every 40

If I was paying 66k or 100k  I would certainly want more than a 1 in 40 chance

Hello,
as remainder, Herbager ( see Star Appeal) belongs to the same damline, if you go   a bit further back
the damline.

From the same branch of Fam. 16 is Detroit and her son Carnegie (sent to NZ).
Even for me it was surprise, the "Spicebox" Family  once had a "hoof" in my homecountry. The Sire Espace Vital (by Oleander) was bred  at the "Schlenderhan Stud" during the 1940's, but raced in France and found the way to South America. He was  a good Sire in Chile. Anyhow he found the way back to Germany, see the ped (damline) of the good 2 yearold "Palang" an Import from the U.S.

When i had a look Vice Regal, I see he was by Bismark (a former German Statesman from the 19th Century), his dam sire is Wilwyn and trace, guess who to Oleander and his damline is related with Literat, Lando, Lovelyn, because "Lovely Rosa" is a HS of "Lovely Naples", the foundationmare in Germany.

regards, Ticino

The family is also represented by Zabeel with Sepoy carrying the same cross as Zabeel in Sir Ivor over Spicebox.

They're also running against comparatively bad two year olds. Our horses are much more developed at 2.

well as the sepoys overseas are doing their growing and developing overseas they would be in the same boat as those overseas.  Had a nice G3 winner the other day - again trained by Mark Johnston.  He seems to know how to get the best out of both the Sepoys and Helmets.  Just because ours are more advanced doesn't mean that travels overseas.  We have a different environment for the young horses to grow in.

The early season 2yo races and some of those Irish 2yo races are less competitive than ours that is for sure but I could not be sure their 2yos are less advanced than ours.

They do have a good few sires who virtually specialise as 2yo sires.

Has 3 of the 4 starters in a quality conditions race at Newbury in the early hours, including the best horse he has so far produced. Dabyah. She looks a potential star. This contest is being run on quite a deep heavy track.
