MOSHE, the multiple winning brother to World Champion, Black Caviar, and half brother to brilliant 2YO, All Too Hard, will stand at Eliza Park in 2012.
Eagerly sought by stud farms throughout Australasia, Moshe provides broodmare owners with the opportunity to tap into the hottest family in Australia.
Indicative of the pedigree’s popularity is the yearling half sister to Moshe that was sold at last week’s 2012 Australian Easter Yearling Sale for $2.6 million.
Only lightly raced, Moshe won three from five starts including a six lengths romp at Bendigo on debut in a blistering 56.95 seconds (just outside the course record established in 1999). Moshe also won twice over 1000m at Moonee Valley, the latter while carrying 59kgs.
Like his big sister, you wouldn’t miss Moshe in a crowd …
“Having seen Moshe for the first time I was really impressed with his physical appearance … he’s a very masculine horse like his sire Bel Esprit,” Eliza Park nominations manager, Mark Lindsay points out. “Moshe is already 640kgs, has tremendous length, bone and conformation and we’re delighted to have the opportunity to stand him at Eliza Park … particularly given our close association with the family over the years! Eliza Park stands his sire, Bel Esprit AND bred and sold his mother, Helsinge.”
As speculation grew as to his stud plans, the Sunday Herald Sun announced that “Moshe has the bloodlines and now the headlines” and he will clearly be one of the most sought out stallions in 2012.
Moshe’s racehorse owners – a large syndicate formed by Roy Higgins and Wylie Dalziel Racing – have retained an interest in Black Caviar’s brother and an introductory service fee will be announced shortly.

Any guesses on what the first season fee will be?
I'm thinking somewhere between 5k-8k range, could be wrong.

Wind issues. And id be surprised if they had him at 5-8k (though thats where he should be) i would say they will get in on ATH and BC hype and set him at 12-15k

Agree, i was also thinking around $6k but Eliza usually charge about double my estimate, so probably $12k.

My god when I read 15k I nearly spat my breakfast! Asking anything more than 8 is an insult.. and frankly some of these stallion masters have to realize some sires just ARE not premier grade right off the mark.

Some have to prove it!! In my eyes moshe has to prove it, just as he had to prove he had ability on the track. He's not Caviar.

I always thought Moshe was the underdone one, sure he won 3 out of 5, but he never really IMPRESSED me on the track, compared to what ATH has come out and done, its like Moshe who?

When he won his first start in the bush (moshe) it was a very very soft win. You would have rightly assumed the horse would go onto much greater things!

He had ability. Problem is you can never measure up to a freakishly good sister. ATH will suffer the same curse. Hawkes will be very very selective in what races he places him in. It will be all about maintaining a good winning record and pinching a weak G1 somewhere with him.

Very good price, he should get quite a large book. Thankgod they didnt allow the BC hype to push him up high in fees.

Yep.  Putting him up at that price makes a very attractive option for people wanting to tap into the BC hype without forking out huge $$

A tad presumptious in hindsight there Troppo but then as they say " hindsight is a wonderful thing"

I would prefer to breed to Moshe based on the inflated service that will be asked of ATH.

You get the female line which is driving ATH at a fraction of the cost

When does Moshe be rebadged as All Too Hard's brother instead of Black Caviar's brother? Seems about time. Whenever ATH wins he becomes BC's brother, and when he doesn't he becomes a son of Casino Prince. Funny that!

Since when ar Gr 1 races weak, always consider them tough races to win regardless of where they are, much like a maiden hcp in Stanthorpe

Well one thing for sure is that ALT has turned out to be way way better than most good judges gave him credit for.
He has no doubt helped inflate the worth and appeal of Moshe as a sire along with it.

Booked a mare to Moshe soon as we saw him at the Open Day....magnificent big hulking beast who should pass on bone and size to his stock. Hoping for a 45 day pos in a few weeks time.
You only appreciate a fast one when you've owned lots of slow ones !!

The word in the house is that they have broken in well and will start hitting the track later this year.

Signs are good and showing potential. The all say that I suppose.

Anyone else heard any news?

My yearling will be home from the breaker next friday. He says she is quiet and sensible and feels like she has a bit of grunt,  sent second one up there today with 3rd one to go when first one come home.
2 of their mums are back in foal to him, and booked again this year.
Can't wait to get my little girl to the track.

No worries.

Can a dam (Helsinge) lift a stallion over the line as Moshe who's race record was suspect.

Are there any other examples of predominantly the Dam's attributing to a stallions success?

What I mean is;

Are there any stallions who have been reasonably ordinary on the track but have a brilliant producing or racing first Dam which has seen that stallion be above average.

Any examples?
