gee Mayor they could have picked a better stallion than Galileo

Acclamation or Sea The Stars as an unproven horse would be better than a horse who generally gets plodders in our conditions

Must be a fairly good horse Djebel three starts 2 wins and 2nd in a G3.  That's a great head shot.

I've just watched an Australian produced doco on NZ TV about the Japanese breeding and racing industry. It showed Kings Rose at stud. The doco is well worth watching if it hasn't already been shown in Aussie --really interesting and very well produced

Furious
I was really impressed with how the Japanese in their breeding, training and racing administration (esp integrity issues) have got on and done their own thing in their own way. As a result they have many aspects of their industry which are well ahead of other jurisdictions.

I did not realise Japanese were such big punters.( the figures on the Prix d'larc de Triomphe made me "smile")

BTW. While I'm no "expert" on horse conformation etc. but it was interesting watching Maurice walking towards the camera. It seemed to me he really "dished" out his right fore leg --if seen in a yearling I think most would pass him by. I'm not sure if I am correct with the observation so I'd be interested in what others see.

Also I was impressed with the size of Sunday Silence and his hind leg action.  Real swing to it massive stride - or so it appeared.  We've had plenty of Champions who weren't correct and really can't judge it well myself and the pedigree is my speciality in this industry.  But yes very forward thinking and massive spenders on a world wide scale.  It's worked they have some of the best but really it just shows how hard New Zealand and Australian breeders have worked over the years as they have worked with the unraced, brother, uncle, lower class gallopers.  No wonder the Brit's consider us second class.

They just don't see the improvement Australian and New Zealand conditions can bring to a pedigree.  Our sun (although Queensland won't see much this week) and open lifestyle and your paddocks of green.  Planing on visiting the studs later this year so will love to see them all.

I can't imagine what an Australia breed mare would think of in her first winter in Japan!

I see King's Rose's full-brother Hardham is a supplementary entry for the Great Southern sale as a stallion prospect. He would have to be half a chance of being commercial, wouldn't he? It's a deep family, Satono Arthur is keeping it on the map in a global context and he is a Group 2 winning, Group 1 placed racehorse who was half a length off Russian Revolution ($55,000) at set weights over 1200m. Where would he fit in the pecking order?
