Oh Ok Ruthven, Good Stuff.

He would be a great physical match for my mare however running at 59.2% Winners to Runners no way too much risk.

His problem at the moment is there is too much difference between his best and his worst.

Much like most stallions then.

I'm not on top of it these days but I think most of his better performers dams carry a male line of sir ivor

My mare has Sir Ivor.

Maybe he can do a Written Tycoon and re-invent himself after being discarded as a commercial failure.

He's good for Qld

His chances of becoming commercial were next to zero from the day he went to stud and stood for 5k, good breed to race option though.

He stood at Darley, had his chance, they certainly tried to push him when I spoke with them.

Red Ransom - Not so handsome.

Bradjm I sent my mare to him last year but unfortunately she missed at the end of the season after losing her LCA foal. She just wasn't interested so definitely not his fault.
But I will be sending her back to him this year as he is on fire.
He had a huge book of mares at Aquis last year as I think everyone in QLD saw the value.
And then in the past two months his horses are winning group races again.

He really is looking the goods this year.

I have a mare in foal to him (extremely late due date though) and two booked for this coming season. The problem is finding a mare that suits him - I have very little Danehill blood in my broodmare band.

I just realised I might have implied he had trouble getting mares in foal in a timely manner, which is not so.

My mare was going to foal late in 2016 and indeed she foaled so late that she could not go to Holy Roman Emperor as intended, but I thought Domesday was worth sending her to, even though she was running so late.  She will be given the coming year off to catch up with the season.

I don't think you need danehill blood, sir ivor appears to have some impact.

Domesday, for interest, has had four SW out of Danehill line mares.

Arcadia Dream - Redoute's Choice
Five To Midnight - Fastnet Rock
Italy - Flying Spur
Sunset Rock - Fastnet Rock

Two of his three G1 winners have been out of Sir Tristram line mares.

One of the two mares I am sending has Sir Ivor through Sovereign Red in the 2nd dam (Show A Heart - Sovereign Red).  The other mare works better according to True Nicks (A++) and Goldmine (20/20) and in particular my gut re conformation and overall pedigree pattern.  She is by Clang from a Just Awesome mare.

I thought the cross would be good but I was surprised at how good the computer programs thought it was.  Against that her athletic good looks work well with Domesday.  Only perceived problem might be the temperament; putting Domesday with a Clang mare.  The mare herself has an obliging temperament so I hope that transfers to the foal.

This is exactly the reason I am sending my Commands mare to him. Danehill crosses work well with him.

Is Domesday supposed to be bad tempered ?    Or does that come from Clang ?
Having seen both Domesday, and Clangalang, they both were very quiet and laid back , so wondering why temperament crops up for you,  Mumtaz ??
Of course I am not deep into breeding and all the various foibles .

I'm not one for nicking because it only involves half of the mares pedigree

However danehill mares 11 starters 8 winners no stakes winners aei 1.07

Octagonal mares 16 starters 13 winners 2 SW aei 2.28

Commands 14 starters 9 winners 0 SW aei 0.64

That's what nicking throws up

No I'm not trying to insult Domesday's temperament.  I am thinking of Anabel's statement about his progeny being "a bit mad" and the fact that at last year's Open Day he had more energy and enthusiasm than the other stallions - so he could throw high energy foals.

With regards to Clang I always kept my ear open about him as I could never work out why he was so uncommercial given his progeny's racing statistics.  One opposition stud master said it was because many were mad, and it was hard to keep the weight on them as they were always on the move.  Since then I have heard trainers confirm this.  My mare is easy to handle but she is the least lazy horse in her paddock - which is fine as the goal is to breed race horses not riding school hacks.
