If you are talking about Paul, he left ages ago and Waller is still leading the premiership, like to be going as bad.

Good form last prep, out of Miss Kournikova who was brilliant, and great trial win.

Waller is too good not to bounce back quickly. And I doubt the cattle he has atm are his top liners so like Snowden will be winning plenty very soon.

I think it might be more the fact that thoes horses he had running week in week out arnt there anymore. It had to take its toll eventually. Also with Gai's stable finding form that makes it tougher as well.

Listen to the man. We (the Australian racing and breeding industry) might just learn something. Who drives the obsession with 2yo racing in this country? Who feeds the frenzy?

Waller gets his first juvenile winner for 2013-14

Nic Ashman - 5/02/2014

Premier Sydney trainer Chris Waller saddled up his first two-year-old winner this season when Brazen Beau led all the way in Wednesday’s Australian Turf Club Maiden Handicap (1100m) at Canterbury.

The trainer has developed a reputation for breaking records with older horses since arriving in Australia more than a decade ago. To put it in perspective, Waller has already trained 120 winners this season yet Brazen Beau’s win was his first in the juvenile category.

Waller is adamant you get more out of your bloodstock when they’re allowed time to mature despite the Australian trend of pushing horses in their two-year-old season.

"I don’t know why we do it. We have one two-year-old race a week,” he said.

"There’s 16 races for three and four-year-old and we all try and smash horses up for two-year-old races.”

Brazen Beau won’t be thrown into the deep end in a hurry with the trainer signalling "a 1200 metre race at Randwick” on February 22 as his next target.

"He’s still green and still learning and this is his first preparation,” he said. "He’ll get his chance to step up but we’re not getting too far ahead of ourselves.”

Brazen Beau ($2.70) defeated the Gai Waterhouse-trained Hampton Court ($2) by 4-1/2 lengths with another five lengths back to the Gary Portelli-trained Testashadow ($14) in third.

The market: Brazen Beau opened at $2.50 drifted to $2.90 and then firmed back into $2.70.Hampton Court eased from $1.80 to $2.10 before starting $2 while Testashadow firmed from $21 into $14. The market closed at 111 percent.

The move by Star Thoroughbreds makes total sense.

It's not about two year olds. It's about horses having a racing career.

Whatever they win at two is a bonus, not the highlight.

Doesn't need to wreck babies to be the best trainer in the country, one of the best blokes in racing and actually cares about his horses.

But he brings them along nicely with a few light preps after being broken in. The 2yo's tell him if they're ready. There's no wastage.

We the public only see those 2yos who do race & stay sound enough for a 3yo racing prep, not the carnage of the remainder, some of which are lucky enough to be well bred fillies who can become breeding stock; a few that end up with a patient new owner looking for a future equestrian mount with the rest appearing in stock saleyards & abbatoirs.
They all start out with optimistic owners who mainly want a social outing with friends when their horse races but many are burnt quickly by the unnecassary 'wastage' of babies who may well have fulfilled their owners dreams, had they been given the most cost effective of all resources, a little time Angry

True, i'm sure they despise the fact they've had so many 2 year old winners with Gai. LOL
