14% for his last 50 starters is all I can find more recently, plus a career lifetime 10% winners to runners.

Wasn’t sure where to post so put it in both just in case

Caulfield trainer Ciaron Maher is undergoing surgery this morning for a suspected broken femur after champion mare Jameka threw him at trackwork at Caulfield on Friday.

Maher's assistant trainer David Eustace confirmed Maher had been taken to hospital via ambulance after the incident at around 4am.

Eustace explained Maher was aboard Jameka trotting in the exercise area when she whipped around and threw him heavily to the ground.

He said Jameka was caught immediately after the incident and sustained no injuries.

Femur... wow. Bloody big bone to break.

Hopefully at the minor end of the scale - with the major end being a pair of plaster overalls.

Yeah, his weight is a non-factor and I reckon he can ride too.
Some of his horses look very well balanced.

Best wishes to CM ... but it does sound like Jameka's in good shape, so that's great news!

Caulfield Cup-winning trainer Ciaron Maher has entered into a training partnership with David Eustace, effective from the 2018-19 season onwards.

Eustace has served as assistant trainer to Maher in recent times, the 27-year-old having built on his previous roles as assistant to Roger Varian in the UK for four years, and having also worked in Australia for Peter Snowden and Peter Moody.

The son of long-time Newmarket trainer James Eustace, David is now making the official step into the ranks as of Wednesday.

"For as long as I can remember it has always been horses and training, so to be granted this opportunity by Ciaron is a huge honour," Eustace said.

"I am extremely grateful for the faith being shown by Ciaron and we look forward as a partnership to continued success in the future."

Maher credited Eustace as being an integral part of his business, especially in recent times during the transition period when Aaron Purcell took charge of Maher's horses for a six-month period across the spring/autumn.

"David has been instrumental in the growth and success of the stable over the past 12 months," Maher said.

"During my period of suspension under Aaron Purcell, David ensured the seamless running of the yard. He has proven himself as a hard-working professional, learning the Ciaron Maher Racing way but also bringing new ideas to the fore. I am delighted to have David join me on the ticket."

Their first runner in partnership will be Smokin' Bella at Sale on Wednesday, running in the Sale LDV Fillies and Mares BM70 Handicap (1422m).

Maher has won 10 Group 1s in his training career, including nine in the past four seasons - headlined by 2016 Caulfield Cup winner Jameka.

Wisdom has been chasing me but I've always outrun it!

This had to happen, a sign of the times , big stables now need eyes in the back of their head, staff, feed merchants overloading feed concentrates, multiple runners on multiple tracks in different states, accountants, internet savvy employees etc.etc. media want every piece of you, tuff gig now if ya can hack it imo.

Ciaron Maher and David Eustace will take over disqualified trainer Darren Weir's Ballart stable Forest Lodge, with immediate effect.

It had been widely speculated the trainers would acquire the Ballarat property after the partnership had already received a large number of Weir's former horses, including seven Group 1 winners.

"This is a huge opportunity for Ciaron Maher Racing to take over a premier training facility in Victoria," said Maher.

"Our business is well structured to facilitate this addition, both practically and administratively, and our key priority it to ensure a swift takeover with minimal disruption to the staff and horses there.

"We already provide a vast array of training operations and locations for our horses, including traditional track training at Caulfield, beach training at Balnarring and dressage and arena work at our Pakenham pre-training farm.

"In addition we have recently opened a stable at Warwick Farm in Sydney.

"Adding a country training facility provides yet another string to our bow and we believe this will be of great benefit to our current owners and, hopefully, our new ones."

Racing Victoria confirmed on Thursday morning that stewards had approved Maher and Eustace to take over the stable, on the following conditions:

• that the transfer of any horses from Weir to the Maher-Eustace partnership must remain on an individual basis by application of the owners and subject to the approval of the stewards; and

• that the Maher-Eustace partnership will not be permitted to nominate any horse under the care of Weir at the time of his disqualification on Wednesday, 6 February 2019 until such time as it has been transferred to their care with the approval of stewards.

Forest Lodge becomes the fourth base for the training partnership, alongside Caulfield, Pakenham and Sydney.

It comes after Weir was banned from racing for four years at a Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board hearing at Racing Victoria on Wednesday morning.

As of Wednesday, Maher and Eustace had 231 horses in their care, including more than 15 of Weir's former runners.

The Group 1 winners formally trained by Weir are Extra Brut, Humidor, Gailo Chop, Sopressa, Voodoo Lad, Age Of Fire and Land Of Plenty.

Before acquiring Weir's horses, Maher and Eustace had only one active Group 1 winner in their stable, Aloisia.

He’d be mad not to use this as an opportunity to exit Caulfield early, without paying any penalty.

Well if their stable keeps growing like it is how can they guarantee security and good governance? It’s getting like a supermarket for God’s sake, when will this madness end?

The Ciaron Maher and David Eustace training team will take over Darren Weir’s training complex from today.

Ballarat Turf Club chief executive Lachlan McKenzie said it would be a brand new business, as Maher has bought Weir out, and the partnership will take over the horses and staff which were still at the Forest Lodge stables.

I know how hard it is to run a 40 horse stable, it blows my mind how you can oversee 400 it’s just so bloody ridiculous! You’ll end up with another front page story soo maybe not with Maher and co, but another leviathan stable.

Okay so let me see if I have this correct.

A stable which has been the cause of the biggest scandal in racing, ever, is to be taken over by a person who failed in his duty, to know who actually owned one of his best horses, and his racing manager, was complicate, in this fraud.

I can just see the headlines in the media, that will be used now.

There is a huge difference between a horse running when it is a few milligrams over the threshold for bicarb or any other substance, than failing to identify the correct owner of a horse, which is what a head trainer is supposed to do.

I suppose that is why they hire racing managers, but when the racing manager is in on the rort, it makes it difficult to get to the truth.
Remember, it might take intelligence to be smart , but it takes experience to be wise
