WTF is wrong with Racing NSW, female jockeys who have dual jockey/trainer licences are permitted to ride at Royal Ascot and in the USA, but not in NSW. Get over it, modern up and change your attitude and rules to allow these professionals to show their wares in international competition.

Agreed it was a terrific ride by Linda.

A bit harsh calling LAC a hurdler! Sure he’s won a maiden hurdle but he is a G1 placegetter.

He is a hurdler though... won a jumps race. Therefore a hurdler

And they use to have races known as Jumper's Flat. The distance for the Pakenham Cup was just about right for that kind of a race....

Just because he wins a hurdle, that does not make him a hurdler.

Saintly and Might And Power won a Melbourne Cup and I have not met anyone who would claim they are genuine 3200m horses!

Northerly won a Caulfield Cup, but he was a middle distance galloper.

One of my favourite 3yo fillies, Grand Archway, won the Australia Stakes fresh from the VRC Oaks, but no one would claim she was a genuine group 1, 1200m horse.

Like A Carousel was the best weighted horse in that race today, because there is not much between hi and De Little Engine in ability, the only difference is that DLE is a bit more consistent.

Nice effort all round with LAC today

Both horses were well beaten at the time, so one wonders why Linda transferred the whip from one hand to the other just before the alleged incident.  Wink

I have seen the incident, no grounds for appeal IMHO
Lenient punishment considering her record.
Was a disgusting act and the charges were warranted

Victoria’s leading jockey Linda Meech has been suspended for 23 meetings after Racing Victoria stewards found her guilty of improper riding at Kilmore earlier in the month.

Stewards found that, approaching the 100m in the Bet365 BM78 Handicap (1200m) on January 8th, Meech (riding As Bad As Tyson) altered her whip action by reaching out with her left arm to use her whip in a manner that struck apprentice Stephen Brown (Kievann).

The inquiry had initially been adjourned to allow Meech time to tender evidence to support her case.

In assessing the penalty, stewards took into account her excellent 20-year record, the low impact of the incident and the fact her actions did not affect the results of the race. Kievann finished third in the race won by Star Stealer while As Bad As Tyson ran unplaced.

The Group 1-winning jockey, who has ridden 54 winners this season to lead the state premiership, can return to the track on Wednesday, February 14th.

Silly act but hardly worth 23 meetings. Dunn knocked half a field down, risked human and horse life and limb, and got half that iirc.

I was angry too don't worry. It's important jockeys take these interviews seriously.
