In the trial where she runs 3rd, the jockey was having a good look down at the forelegs, she must have felt a bit off.

I'd like more depth of girth.

Guys/gals, when you post a photo, would you mind giving us details i.e. age, breeding, who trains & if you have a particular interest in the horse?

Half the breeding is in the feeding, he has a lot of growing to do with little wither, I would not put my hand up for this horse even with someone else's money lol, but there's nothing like a thoroughbred to bring your so called judgement back to earth.

I don’t know if you could ever get any strength into that, if I wanted to go into one on a budget I’d go for a tried horse. |

Carioca, re: the little grey, I don't think it's the *hock,* I think it's the gaskin and stifle.
His hind cannon and hock are just about where they should be, under his hip. The side of the triangle between his sacroiliac and hip is good, but the hip to stifle is short. It makes the hock look at a funny angle when in reality it's his stifle. He looks like a miler from his girth forward and I'm not sure from his girth back. Djebel, for the Hallowed Crown yearling, how long a yearling? Nearly a 2yo now? If so, it does look very immature and weak. I wouldn't call it over at the knee now, but give it a year of racing and it will be. Does his mare have Deputy Minister, by chance? Those weak-front-legs-that-sort-of-look-over, plus the low withers, kind of looks like him http://thoroughbredancestry.com/deputy-minister/

She has a pedigree suggesting stamina. Have not seen a side on view but I suspect she looks like a stayer and is built like a stayer should.
Not these steroid induced overfed Ben Johnsons we are used to seeing. For Gay, I should point out her name is Montalis. |

If someone were to give me this horse as a racing prospect, the first thing I would do would be to put it in a pasture in the mountains, where the water trough was at the top of one hill and the feed bin was on top of the other. Then leave it there for at least six months and let it grow (and get some muscle and fitness). After that, if it had shown some physical development, put it in work with polo ponies or working stock. No rider, leadline only, with lots of time building from walk to canter. If it doesn't have enough physical development by then to be worth racing, it will at least be fit and handled enough to be saleable as a prospect to a non-racing home.
