Listen to some of Williamson's recent releases, believe me they're marvelous.

Remember him criticizing the local industry and indeed Tamworth Awards a few years ago on the basis that too many Aussie artists were simply covering US tracks or adopting unnecessarily Southern States tones. One top selling/rated artist actually withdrew from Tamworth as a consequence.

Go John.  Thumbs Up

Yep always good. Archie Roach too. Just nice simple beautiful music/ lyrics that could only come from our big brown land in the middle of nowhere.

Hey PT, just googled Wiki. Perry was with the Kraft Music Hall 1959- 1967 when it had its most success, previous they had radio show hosted by Bing C and Al Jolson.

Listening to it at the moment. Very nice. How does he keep his voice in that shape at the age of 98 or whatever he is?

Amazing. But now I think about it, that old lady speaking voice that quite a few old ladies get, there is no male equivalent is there? So maybe male singing voices last longer. Don't know- just speculating.

Bennett Sings, Basie Swings (1959) so I can compare his voice then and now.

No surprise- better back in the day.

Isaac, why do you bring a complaint about the Meghan and Harry thread to the Music thread?

Why not put it in it's thread or better still in your fabulous China thread that nobody reads?

People watch and listen to legends like Tony Bennett because of their giant body of work  and contribution to music, is an experience to attend their concerts. Always a bit sad though, as Carioca said nobody can hold back the effects of ageing and I would prefer to remember them at the peak of their powers.

Saw Cher the other night, not a big fan lol but someone wanted me to take her to the concert.  Interesting show, went back through her body of work, many costume changes and her voice whilst not as good is still amazingly strong. 72, she seems to have discovered the elixir of youth. the audience was lame though, polite applause even though they enjoyed it, not even an encore was deserved.
Interesting experience but I would rather lose the $500 betting on the horses LOL
