I just hope they don't run Await the Dawn here as well.

I reckon on his Australian form, So You Think has Jan Vermeer covered.

But Await The Dawn is almost an untapped quantity - he's very lightly raced (4 starts from memory) and he is held in high regard - in Eclipse Stakes betting he is on the fourth line of betting at 10-1, So You Think is on the third line of betting at 8-1, so it suggests there is not much between them.

Did a change to Starspangledbanner's training conditions, adjusting to Northern Hemisphere methods diminish him?

The interesting thing will be to see how fresh he races at 2000m first up.
He can get a bit hot while he is fresh , so if they have trained that out of him or how he has been readied will be very interesting to watch.

Any word from thr O'Brien camp on how he's coming along, and what they expect of him?  I remember them being quite bullish about SSB last year.

Well pointed out Browndog.  Yes, they have different track conditions and training regimes but if the horse is good enough it will win.  SYT has had plenty of time to adjust and being of a relaxed nature has surely aided him.

His win in the McKinnon in filthy conditions was all class and he only enhanced his reputation by stepping up in distance in the space of 3 days to finish a gallant third to an seasoned and proven stayer in equal conditions.

He was a physically imposing beast as a 3yo, fiercely competitive on the track but a gentleman off it.  Now a mature 4yo there is nothing to suggest that any of this has been diminished but rather harnessed and finely tuned by O'Brien and his team.

The pace is genuine in England which would suit SYT's racing temperament.  I expect and hope that he does very well over there.

Think is 2000m is his best distance from his Aust runs.  Class got him to 3rd in the Melb Cup but there wsas none of that sprint he had in the 1600-2000m and they are planning to take  on UK horses over what UK horses excel at - staying - later on.

So You Think is the best middle distance horse we've had in quite a while so I'll be surprised if he doesn't win races overseas.  However, as others have pointed out, Australian 2000m+ form is significantly weaker than in Europe.  That Waller is able to win so many races with european discards is proof of this.  My Kingdom Of Fife was a real slap in the face to aussie middle distance form.  I'm not negative on SYT's chances in Europe.  I think he'll go very well.  I hope so.  Just a bit concerned he might run into much better horses over there.

My Kingdom of Fyfe beat one of the worst wfa fields ever assembled here. Imagine how much shocking would have beat that field by! The melbourne spring wfa form is so much stronger than late autumn form.

I was going to stir you up and say I don't know if Shocking would have won. But even though I still think the horse is overrated, it is true he most likely would have won.

Overdose is not in the top 10 at present Brooke.

BC is rated on top, from Blame (defeated Zenyatta), then Workforce (Arc Winner).

SYT is rated 5th at present.

So You Think to meet field of six in Mooresbridge

Australian globetrotter So You Think will meet five rivals in Monday night’s Group 3 Mooresbridge Stakes (1m 2f, 2000m) at The Curragh in Ireland.

So You Think, who will carry Derrick Smith’s purple and white silks made famous by horses like Septimus, Fame and Glory and Honolulu, is the topweight in the race.

He will jump from barrier five.

Trainer Aiden O’Brien will also have outsider and probable pacemaker Windsor Palace in the race.

Cashelgar (Dermot Weld), Bob Le Beau (Jessica Harrington), Mid Mon Lady (Harry Rogers) and Termagant (Kevin Prendergast) complete the field of six.

The Mooresbridge Stakes will jump at 1:20am AEST on Tuesday morning.

I with Hot2Trot....our Sprinters are TOP CLASS (THE BEST). Worry for SYT in UK. Our High Chapparal's have not enthused as 4 yo's  here. SYT may be the only exceeption. Not confident.

Should just win. Only concern is apparently O'Brien's stable runners have needed the run first up this year. At least those who have appeared to date.

.
.
. Please don't use the McKinnon as a guide to anything .
Better known as the practice Stakes , SYT was given the worlds greatest tag on beating a few slow ones having a Melb . Cup barrier trial .
SYT has won about 60% of his race starts so where are u coming from with all this hype gelati that he is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

maccamax, calm down mate.  Where in my post did I say he was the "greatest thing since sliced bread".  Looking at the time you posted, maybe lack of sleep was affecting your judgement.

So Let's Elope winning the McKinnon before winning the Cup was a practice run and gives no credence to her reputation whatsoever.  What about all the other greats before her - Carbine, Phar Lap, Rising Fast, et al who did the same?  Don't forget SYT gave Americain 1.5kgs in the Cup who is 18 months older and a more experienced horse over 2 miles.  That's how SYT achieved his rating.  Do your research!

The Cox Plate and McKinnon are run over the same distance (Cox Plate 40m more), so what's this 'practice run' analogy you're referring too in reference to the Cup?  Some of the greats of the Australian turf have attempted to pull of the McKinnon/Cup and failed - Tulloch among them.  So on what basis do you maintain that the McKinnon, afforded Gr1 status, is a 'practice run' to the Cup given it is run 3 days prior?
