G'day Brains Trust!

Came across this interesting fellow at Warwick Farm in the last tomorrow ...

4yo Bay Horse
D.O.B: 06-Mar-2014
by DEEP IMPACT (JPN)  from KEIAI GERBERA (JPN)
5x Pedigree Report

Japanese bred entire, who was sparingly raced in UK with modest results (7:1-1-1 Stakes placed).

Has drifted to $31 in what would seem an unsuitable 1300m (goes in the multi just in case!Wink).

Was wondering, how does the breeding stack up, being by Deep Impact, I would assume he's meant to be above average ... any clues/thoughts on the dam side?

Cheers!
In reference to every post in the Trump thread ... "There may have been a tiny bit of license taken there" ... Ok, Thanks for the "heads up" PT!

Nothing bad there Dr.  Dam set a 7 fur record in Japan according to Pedigree Online and won up to G3 level.  Nothing jumps out but nothing says won't run.  Just one of those pedigrees that make up the bunch.

It's an interesting older American family, whose foundation mare Fairy Gold was imported from GB in 1903.  Fairy Gold was the dam of Fair Play, sire of Man'O'War.  Fierce Impact's female line traces back to a full sister to Fair Play.

Fierce Impact's dam Keiai Gerbera's branch of the family, other than her and her foals, has gone rather cold.  Her dam is a full sister to useful-but-not-world-beating sire Boundary.  Back one generation, her 2nd dam is a half-sister to the dam of the very good racemare Classy Cathy, who was useful but not world-beating in the broodmare band.

Boundary was best as a miler, Keiai Gerbera won (and set a new track record) at 1400m, Keiai Nautique won at a mile...so I think that 1300-1600m is where this horse needs to run.

Fierce Impact, Deep Impact's best-performed son in Australia, will be retired to stud at the end of this season.

Fierce Impact will join the stallion roster of Victorian stud Leneva Park ahead of the 2021 breeding season.

"We are thrilled that the ownership group, trainer Matt Smith and Mark Pilkington have put their faith in Leneva Park to carry Fierce Impact forward as a stallion and we are so excited to join them this autumn as we chase more Group 1 success together," said Leneva Park's bloodstock advisor Michael Sharkie in a statement.

Fierce Impact has won five races, including three Australian G1s over 1600 metres - the 2019 Toorak Handicap, 2019 Kennedy Cantala Stakes and 2020 Makybe Diva Stakes.

The six-year-old entire is one of three Australian G1 winners by late Japanese sire Deep Impact, alongside Tosen Stardom (2017 Toorak Handicap and Emirates Stakes) and Real Impact (2015 George Ryder Stakes).

"He is such a tough, hardy horse. He's a very special individual and has been perfectly sound right though his career, he just keeps getting better," Smith said of Fierce Impact.

"He is a Group 1-class horse from 1400 to 2000 metres with a great turn of foot and I think he's a horse that breeders will really get behind."

Fierce Impact hasn't raced since finishing a creditable sixth in the Cox Plate (2040m) at The Valley last October but is expected to resume next month, with the $1 million G1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill on March 20 looming as a possible starting point.

Winning isn't everything, it's the only thing

A three-time Group 1 winner standing his first season at stud in Victoria for less than $20,000. Sounds good, right?

That's what the team at Leneva Park is hoping breeders think about Fierce Impact, who they announced on Wednesday will command a service fee of $16,500 when he takes up residence at their Longwood property this year.

Levena's General Manager, Mick Sharkie, said the star galloper's record on the racetrack spoke for itself and there had already been solid interest from breeders in sending a mare to the son of Deep Impact.

Under the tutelage of trainer Matthew Smith, Fierce Impact won the Toorak Handicap, Cantala Stakes and Makybe Diva Stakes, all at Group 1 level over 1600m in Victoria, before being retired after his most recent spring campaign.

"He was not a flash in the pan that's for sure, this horse proved himself at Group 1 level over and over again," Sharkie said.

"His three Group 1 wins came in Victoria in revered mile races, he beat horses like Russian Camelot fair and square, and he stands his first season at stud at an extremely competitive price given his record and his pedigree.

"Breeders know what we are bringing to the table with this horse - we've been getting phone calls daily asking about his fee, we hope the market sees the same opportunity in the horse that we do."

Leneva Park will also stand the G1-winning son of Invincible Spirit, Royal Meeting, this season, with his service fee unchanged at $11,000.

Wisdom has been chasing me but I've always outrun it!
