Optus Stadium: Streaker Ben Jenkins’ family sent angry letter

Jordan McArdle  |  The West Australian

The letter, shared by Mr Jenkins’ sister Laura on Facebook, described his naked run during the historic One-Day International between Australia and England on January 28 as a “thoughtless, childish and disgusting act”.

It goes on to detail how “the Jenkins incident” has affected the Wheatbelt town and that the only course of action is for the family to relocate.

The bizarre letter shared by Ben Jenkins’ sister Laura.
This letter was left in my fathers (sic) mailbox by our neighbour and I would like to know what the “good and decent” people of Toodyay actually think,” Laura Jenkins wrote.

The feedback on Laura Jenkins’ Facebook post was mainly positive towards her brother, with some even praising his act.

Whether the letter is a serious threat or a hoax is yet to be determined.Mr Jenkins became the first person to streak at Optus Stadium when he entered the playing field during the 17th over of Australia’s innings.

The 23-year-old plumber faces a fine of up to $12,000 for the incident and will face court after he was charged by police with trespassing. He was also slapped with a three-year ban on attending cricket matches at any Australian venue by Cricket Australia.

Optus Stadium is yet to decide if it will impose a separate ban on him to prevent him attending events at the ground.

A GoFundMe page set up by Mr Jenkins last month raised more than $5000 to go towards paying his fine.

I'm motivated by that letter, to send some money to his GofundMe sight, and offer him and his family free board and lodging at our house!

What a legend!Thumbs Up

The letter is clearly a gee up from a friend ... very funny too! Clap
In reference to every post in the Trump thread ... "There may have been a tiny bit of license taken there" ... Ok, Thanks for the "heads up" PT!

Toodyay locals plan 'nudie run' in support of Optus Stadium streakerThe nudie run saga seems to be far from over with Toodyay locals banding together to protest a recent letter addressed to the family of Optus Stadium streaker Ben Jenkins.

Mat Ker and Trevor Randell created a Facebook event called 'Toodyay nude run' which has since gone viral.More than 900 people have said they are interested in the event, with another 300 people saying they are going.

The event scheduled for Saturday at the Toodyay Football Oval has been described as "a protest for the Australian wayNude run' admin Trevor Randell posted on the event saying locals would not be bullied by the "narrow minded" author of the letter "Streakers are part of cricket in Australia and we are standing for all Dinky Di Australians and to preserve the way of life we all grew up with," Mr Randell said."I really didn't expect such a huge response," Mr Ker said.

"I created this event for a bit of a laugh and as a response to that ridiculous letter, whether it's real or not it was worth having a laugh at.

"I didn't actually intend on the event being a real thing but if people still want to show up it's their choice, I just don't want anyone to break the law."

Mr Randell said he believes hundreds will still be heading to Toodyay to protest.
