As soon a single he crossed the line, I knew CJW would prefer to Doncaster Hcp 1600m rather than the AJC Derby.

What and where was the other Group winner?
Australian racing is only good up to 1400m in terms of world standards when it comes to depth/quality in numbers

He looks to be a better chance in the Derby than the Doncaster to me.
It was easy in the end today and the extra distance of the Derby won't worry him.
I started with nothing and still have most of it left

Future CC type? Seemed a pretty weak field though.

Waller will run him in Doncaster if he can- thinks he's a sprinter/miler- but unless the Rosehill Guineas is a ballot exempt race- haven't checked- won't get a start in Doncaster.

No hope of beating Kementari anyway.

I didn't know he was by SYT. How did I not know this? First grey I've seen by SYT. Really liked his run today despite his tendency to want to 'duck' to the inside in the stretch one or two times before being corrected. Nice looking colt and nice win.

Surely the Derby is his go next? He looked strong on the line yesterday and if nothing else it'll give them more of an indication for the Spring as to whether he's a Caulfield Cup horse or an Epsom/Cantala horse.

He's got no hope of getting a Doncaster start, but for the sake of argument. let's say he would get a start and they were really undecided between Derby and Doncaster. Can you have a horse at 100% for both 1600 and 2400 at the same time? Don't you prepare them differently?

He might be more suited in the Doncaster but it's a tougher race, I would have went ahead on the Derby path.

You're deadset kidding. I know you had Kermadec down as a Derby horse too. He won a Doncaster with it and it couldn't even run 2000m.

I'm still waiting for Addictive Nature to run past 1400m!

They don't run on their pedigree, djebel. Waller's pedigree is kiwi. All he knows is patience and teaching horses to relax and finish, and peak for the big day. If anything is ever going to stay it will be with him.

Also owned by a for profit company. You may not like it but a Doncaster is worth a lot more than a Derby on a stallions pedigree.

He will not win the Doncaster.

He will not place in the Doncaster.

Waller clearly gets a cut from Stallion deals and is willing to sacrifice good colts to try and increase thier value in unsuitable races.

Brave to say he won't run a place with that weight. Kementari has to be favourite and he's even getting significant weight off him.

Where is the Order of Entry? I cannot see how he can possibly get a start with 49kg. Am I missing something?

They changed the rules to rank order of entry by Benchmark rating not weight. With the Rosehill Guineas win he moved to a rating of 104, and that places him equal 24th and virtually ensures he'll get a run with a field of 20.
