I still haven't seen the race with RNSW not even having a replay available.
Sounds like a good win though. Well done guys.

Thanks djebel, RNSW have it up now. They had a little bit of a brain fart for a while but all good now.

Nice solid win Dargento.

Very good win, esp late. Tempo didn't exactly suit and next two races have been won by leaders which at first blush adds merit to his win.

Very good win, only hands and heels, not touched once with the whip. Nice.

Waller will target Queensland next year as he does every year with these progressive types.

Should target the Railway Stakes in Perth. Would bring back so many great memories of a grey horse that stole a race and a few hearts along the wayLOLHug

We send him to NZ three Aussie bred stakes winners there today including the 3200m Cup.  Oh that's right Djebel Waller is a NZinder also so hopefully he can develop them to get over a distance also.

Was that the Wellington Cup? What Aussie bred won it?

One of the more impressive looking colts out there and doesn't he have a big engine!

Will relish the mile in two weeks time and if he draws a barrier and can travel 2 or 3 pairs back he won't be beaten.

Chris Waller consistently pisses me off.

Reports seem to be suggesting the Doncaster is more likely than the Derby for this fella.

He just refuses to train colts with either speed or a turn of foot to stay a trip.

He is the shining example of everything that is wrong with Australasian trainers.

I assume Bart would of targeted a staying trip of the Doncaster. In other words....he knew how to train stayers

He is a colt, isn't he? You don't train any colt with commercial prospects for a Derby. It doesn't sell in Australia. This is Australia, djebel. He's helping the owners with appealing to the market in which they'd be selling.

Outside of that issue, I can tell you from experience that he is loathe to step horses up for the sake of it or because their pedigree says you should, when they are winning and performing strongly.

You might say that's wrong, I'm not so bold to challenge the methods of a hall of fame trainer in waiting. I have had horses with the stable that look worth trying over further and he says when they're winning and firing you don't change the method and test them over further. You wait til you're presented with stretching them out because they're telling you they need the extra trip.

Re Dargento, he could well be a better Derby horse than Doncaster. But he has won a stack of Doncasters and Epsoms and knows what sort of horse wins them. I think the biggest issue of all here is that he's dealing with a colt he's trying to make into a stallion prospect, and that will be impacting the decision making.

There has though been good money for him in the Derby. You can say that's mug money or someone knows something contrary to what Waller is saying publicly. You may yet get your wish.

I'm sure Djebel was saying this a few years ago in regards to Kermadec, that turned out ok for Waller.

Has winning a Derby harmed Dundeel ?

He is serving more mares than Kermadec at a higher fee.

If Waller was training Rekindling he'd have never seen 2000m.
