First thought is that at least they care enough to pick that up - I wouldn't have noticed it watching the race unless I backed it. Second thought is that definitely looks like riding to instructions.

I noticed it and it went straight in my blackbook. Not sure what to make of it

Seemed inevitable on the vision.

Caulfield Cup winner Cory Parish charged

Darryl Shearer

Caulfield Cup winning jockey Cory Parish has been charged with failing to give a horse every opportunity to win at a meeting at Bendigo last month.

Parish has been charged under AR135(b) for his ride aboard the Lindsay Park Racing-trained Sonaree in the Maiden Plate (1000m) at Bendigo on February 28.

Sonaree opened $5 and drifted to start $9. After being second last into the home straight Sonaree was beaten 2-1/2 lengths into fifth place behind Chateau Griffo ($1.26 fav).

AR135(b) states: “The rider of every horse shall take all reasonable and permissible measures throughout the race to ensure that his horse is given full opportunity to win or obtain the best possible place in the field.”

The charge alleges that:

• approaching and passing the 200m Parish failed to take a run between Lechter and Champagne Scent that presented when there was sufficient room to do so; and/or

• from the 100m Parish made insufficient effort to shift to the outside of the heels of Lechter to obtain clear running; and/or

• Parish failed to ride Sonaree with sufficient vigour and purpose over the final 100m.

The charge will be heard by the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary (RAD) Board on a date to be fixed.

Blatant. Minimum 1 month or forget about racing integrity. A country maiden should make no difference.

If he is found guilty then one hopes the stewards don't just leave it at that but look into why he rode it like that. Would he ever admit if it was at the request of others for betting reasons or the trainers did not want it to win. He would probably say no to both but the stewards should not just accept that but look further into it to make sure that there is integrity in the industry.
Keep them honest
