I saw Mullins say Hunter, that he would need to boost his rating to make the field.

Obviously being an OTI horse he could still come and run in say the Geelong Cup and if he missed the big one, and run in the Queen Elizabeth, but it looks like the Europeans have got a good crop of handicapping stayers this season so for him to boost the rating in Europe, will be hard.

The winner was good run as well, although she has the same problem, boosting her rating to make the field.
Remember, it might take intelligence to be smart , but it takes experience to be wise

CHELKAR is a serious horse

Racenet have a story

quote

Mullins was more bullish about the Melbourne Cup prospects of the OTI-owned Chelkar, which was beaten 2-1/2 lengths into fourth.

“He hadn’t run for a long time (600 days) and I think he has more improvement than the other horses,” Mullins said.

“Ryan (Moore) said the horse was very free with him the whole way and he was locked in on the inside and because of the slow pace he couldn’t get out.

“He’s the one I think could really improve and he was bought with the Melbourne Cup in mind but he’ll have to show improvement to get into the race.

“He’s in everything we can enter them in - we’ll give him a little break, he’s run a cracker.”

Noticed this guy resuming tomorrow over 1800m at Flemington.

Puzzling as to why OTI would bother shipping him all the way to Australia given his form last year, with last 3 starts:

19th of 20 over 3400m at Galway beaten 131 Lens
18th of 24 over 3200m at Navan beaten 19 Lens
19th of 20 over 2800m at Naas beaten 29.5 Lens

If Archie Alexander can get him to win a race down under, I’ll declare him a genius!

This from OTI website

To Victoria on Saturday, OTI has four runners travelling to Flemington. Chelkar, a French-bred, previously Irish trained gelding looks to be making his Australian debut for Archie Alexander. Since arriving in Australia Chelkar has thrived and is doing well under the care of his new stable, being a favourite ride of trainer’s wife Annie Alexander. His recent jump out in preparation for this races was solid and we hope to see a strong performance from this horse.

Something not sitting right with OTI? They are now paying huge advert cost to get there name out there. Which I thought there brand was ok?? Question mark!! But when you shift through recent purchases? There are some very bad descions on purchasing of some very ordinary horses lately

Being associated with Weir, Smerdon, McLean would’ve sent them into damage control

No I have a feeling these big syndicaters are nearly like used car salesmen. It's impossible to find out what most of the horses do once they are filled!! U only hear of the ones that win. I think they have enormous wastage and a lot disappointed people. Even though they try to target the wealthy

This appears suitable:
Mongol Derby

Description

The Mongol Derby is an equestrian endurance race. The race extends 1000 km through the Mongolian Steppe and is known as the world's longest horse race. The course recreates the horse messenger system developed by Ghengis Khan in 1224.

They only use local mongol ponies in the mongol derby, as they are used to the climate and conditions and still some go lame, so I cant see a TB making it there .
animals before people.
