For all you know, he could completely lose his gelati in a non-racing environment. He's clearly enjoying the current set up.

I can't imagine the HKJC would be willing to take him on. You only have to look at how strict they are with their jockeys.

Pakistan Star has achieved rock star status in HK and realistically was a naughtier boy than Chautauqua , stopping in a race. So having already won there and having a profile is a huge advantage to the owners. Any publicity is good ,so it is a no brainer IMHO that is the avenue they will take. The two of them lining up in different races, same day, would be a promoters dream.

I dont think Rupert would be suggesting it had he not run it by the HKJC first.

They did place a racing ban on Pakistan Star. He was allowed to race again after he successfully completed two jump outs and two barrier trials.

The Stewards over there are alot toughen than our ones. If Legh moves him over there and he fails to jump in his first trial, he'll be banned straight away.

However, l'm a big believer that a new environment can turn a horse around. It may change his mindset which might be the difference. I reckon there's a strong possibility he'd jump over there.

Worth the gamble.

HK could work. All Group races are open over there now so not like they'd need a permit or transfer owners

Pity he missed the Mongol Derby over 1000 kms, run just recently with Wangaratta identity Adrian Corboy one of the co-winning jockeys.

Could probably have given them 15 lengths start.

It's a public forum and everyone's entitled to their opinion.

However yours is the very question some appear unable to come to grips with, and to their discredit imo.

If he does go to HK will Monty Roberts get the gig.      Would he want the gig after being told your services are not required ...He did fix Pakistan Star and the HK authorities now know that Mr Roberts knows a little bit about horses .  Shame others.. thought they knew more .

I can't see how you could have a case to sue anyone if they let Chaut race, you backed him, and he missed the start. On what grounds? That you were unaware of the possibility of him missing the start?LOL It could hardly be clearer that backing Chaut carries the strong risk that he will miss the start.

And in news that comes as absolutely no surprise to anyone, stewards have decided not to enforce the ban on Chautauqua.

The Racing NSW stewards have ordered:

1. Chautauqua is not to barrier trial until after 22 September 2018, so as to allow sufficient time for a re-education process, having regard to the evidence of the (thoroughbred) behaviourist.

2. Chautauqua must barrier trial on two consecutive occasions to the satisfaction of the stewards, before being permitted to race again.

3. Should Chautauqua not show improvement in commencing from the barriers as compared to its last barrier trial on 25 August 2018 and/or does not trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards again, the gelding's nominations for all barrier trials and race meetings will be refused under AR50.

Sorry Chautauqua.. You can lead a steward to water, but you can't make them think.
Karl and Susan Kennedy are my heroes

Eminently sensible decision, unlike some of Rupe's reported comments which were great standup comedy. Fortunately after Rupe had added a few vats of water to the sinking ship his horse whisperer came along and bailed it (and him) out.
