She wins today with that inside run if she didn't get checked and held up from the 250 m to the 150 m.

I thinl so, too.  Look at the photo and see him with an uninterupted run and her trying for a fence space.  Couple more strides and she has him.   Just MHO of course.

If brave smash gets a run 50m earlier he beats them both imho

Tend to agree with this.

Lots of unlucky runners but Hartnell travelled between 1.8 and 4.7 lengths further than the 6 horses who finished directly behind him according to Trakus/Daniel O'Sullivan. That can't be discounted.

Add to the fact he was off the bit and looked to be struggling a long way from home (which is not usually his go) and there was a lot of merit in his performance.

Messy race but deserved winner.

I didn't just mean today.  She lost a lot of time with getting over the fall and then getting back her racing nerve.  She is one very good mare.  And yes the outside horses also had reasons to fail.  Didn't say they didn't.  But it is hard to find you way home along the fence and SG and Kathy took every chance they got.  And were a tad luckier getting them than Mighty Boss trying to get out.

Where has Vega Magic got to? He would have been the only high class 1400 type perfectly suited to track and distance in the race.Wink Would have strolled in.
