Maybe a tendon problem, possibly out of autumn

Thats terrible news, love the big fella tearing around in front.

Kav had him going to the BMW, not sure if he can get the 2400, and Flemington is a tough ask for him to lead all the way for 2000m, but still would've made his presence felt in a few of the lead ups

That is why Mick Price should run Pre Eminence.

With Maldivian out of the way he would get an easy lead with Theseo sitting off him and when he put them to the sword at the 800 they would have trouble catching him.

Is it a race with history that favours 3YOs? I can't remember too many. No reason why it shouldn't though. But 3YOs taking on the older gallopers over a sprint journey is a big difference to the Australian Cup. Requires much more seasoning.

However a 3YO with a Derby campaign underneath him is just the candidate I'd say. He's up and running now so why not? By the time he gets to Sydney, races like the Ranvet and BMW will be competitive and it would be silly to take on the older gallopers in the Ranvet when there are perfectly good 3YO races on offer like the Tulloch and Rosehill Guineas.
Sunline...simply supreme

Saintly won as a 3yo. But also remember that for a couple of years the Australian Guineas was 2000m.

It would be good to have more 3yos in it.

Flemington would have been too big a track for Maldivian in the Australia cup at 2000.  Injury saved the embarisment of not being placed.

Good luck.

The Flemington 1400, like the 2000m, are often "easy" races compared with the 1200 and 1600m events at the same track.

Easy in that you can get frequently get a half-way cushy run over the former races before the pressure's applied, but very rarely over the the 1200 and 1600.  Which is why a fit Maldivian was a near certaintly in the Oz Cup imo.

But it's all meaningless conjecture now.  Confused

Zarita would be much better suited over a mile, Australia Cup totally ridiculous, anyway would need a rocket inserted up its arse to beat Master O Reily in the Australia Cup over 2000 metres.   With all these scratchings every one has forgotten about Master O' Reily......$14.
P.S Could the spelling guru of the forum being Jack tell me please if their is 2 or 1 L in O'Reily.
Good luck.

Sirmione will go close in the St George and will win the Oz Cup i think. Ran on beautifully in the orr, suggesting he has come back well. Sad news about Mal, is better then ever with those blinkers, hopefully he comes back well in the Spring.
