I hope this topic is not a repeat. Just watched Secretariat,s Belmont win. This could be the most dominant win I have ever seen. Opinions for dominance of a racehorse over his/her peers.

1973 English Grand National Steeplechase

The Aussie jumper CRISP soaring over every fence & building up a huge lead, only to be run down in the shadows of the post by RED RUM, who would go on to be the best marathon steeplechaser in history.

I never get tired of watching this race. Clearly the greatest performance by an Australia horse racing overseas.

Secrateret was awesome. Did not see anything live. Far to young; but could quite possibly the best we have ever seen? I know all that dirt racing stuff will rise it’s head? But the times do say a lot? Back then in those times of training? You would think things have progressed? But he is still the bench mark. He’s Belmont win , also only small field ? But to smash a small field in that time ment he did it on his own! He did not have to run those times. Absolute super star. Do not know if there has ever been better?

Have to agree oneone.
I’m not sure if it was just the horses or an awesome race call, but it’s certainly unforgettable 👍

Secretariat / Vain / Luskin Star's Slipper / Manikato's Guineas win - all top horses destroying great fields. The outstanding NZ jumper Bell Flight was pretty spectacular to watch too.

A horse I was lucky enough to have something to do with was Mr Nancho - I always thought this was a pretty good win in a Group One, the winner just cantered away from them up the straight, very dominant especially considering the horses behind him were Group One horses themselves.

Winx Turnbull when she was trapped and only just got out and still won with ease if not by a distance.

Lonhro's Australian Cup and then the following George Ryder when Grand Armee was flying and Lonhro waltzed past.  Much to the delight of everyone there.

Luskin Star's slipper and Champagne Stakes wins.  He had a flowing motion which was a joy to watch.

Kingston Town's AJC Derby and Sydney Cup wins where also arrogant and a joy to watch.

She Will Reign plowing through the mud in the Slipper.  Well I picked her to follow from the sales and that in itself made for excitement.  Clearly helped win that TBV competition.

I'm sure there are more but those will do for now.

Tulloch winning the /57 Caulfield Cup was awesome both in time and arrogance, also Crisp in the UK Grand National.

I know this might be blasphemy oneone, but I actually think Bonecrushers Australian Cup where he beat At Talaq was the better race.

Amazing races Voyager, Bill Collins calls in both clashes added to the Big Red legend.

My personal favourites were Rubitons Cox Plate the following season where Vo led midrace by a dozen lengths, Naturalisms final win in the 93 Caulfield Stakes diving between the great Kiwi Phantom brothers, and the Octagonal/Saintly/NLAD/Filante clashes in the Guineas and Derby in Sydney in 1996.

But there's hundr

Secretariat was a leader. Two runs and wins standout involving a horse coming way off the pace I personally remember three horses.
1 Kiwi in his Cup win
2 Super Impose in many of his wins
and 3, one for the very oldies amongst us, Precious Robe at Flemington in the Provincial Cup. During Melb Cup week in the late 60’s
PR was trained at a little village called Briagalong, north of Sale in Vic. He was well known in country Vic for his method of racing and as such was also very heavily backed in the named race. His race could be on YouTube I’ll check

One of the best come from behind wins I've ever seen was from a 2yo filly named Lowan Star. From last on the turn at Caulfield and blew them away. 2yo's rarely do that, it was amazing. Might have been the Merson Cooper Stks, can't quite remember.

I’ll put my opinion re leaders under a hold, then going bang. Obviously Black Caviar, but the most explosive I’ve seen was Vain, again at Melb Cup carnival in the 7 furlong Linlithgow stks. Both could lead easily to the 400m then explode. Pat Hyland wanted the racing public to see the real Vain he knew and trainer allowed Hyland to show the devastating power of this magical colt on that day winning by 11 lengths in track record time. Unfortunately this was Vain’s last start before his amazing stud career.
