By that you mean 'skilled preparation' no doubt.

Give him another stay so he can 'harp up' a few more winners and maybe even add some more charges to the rap sheet.

QRIC finds Currie ban stands

Racing.com Staff@Racing

6:42pm

, (

Ben Currie has again had his training licence suspended following an internal review by the Queensland Racing Integrity Commission (QRIC) on Monday.

Currie was initially stood down by QRIC on February 18th after a show cause hearing into seven charges laid by Queensland stewards, including several charges relating to the alleged use of a ‘jigger’.

Among the evidence tendered by stewards were a series of text messages in which Currie made reference to the term ‘harped up’ which they alleged refers specifically to jigger usage.

But Currie was immediately granted a stay of proceedings by the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal which allowed him to continue training, during which time he has saddled up 16 winners from only 40 starters.

However QRIC’s internal review, conducted by Kane Ashby, found that the order to stand Currie down had enough merit to be reinstated.

“The reviewer acknowledges the seriousness of the charges, in particular the alleged use or instruction to use an electric or electronic apparatus to a horse which is designed to deliver an electric shock,” Ashby said.

“Notwithstanding, the reviewer acknowledges such charges are yet to be proven and the subject review is particular to the decision to suspend the Applicants trainers licence pursuant to Australian Rule of Racing 8 (z) pending the outcome of the aforementioned (7) charges.

“In carefully considering the evidence and taking into account the aforementioned factors, in particular the Applicants failure to provide any direct evidence or explanation for the term ‘harped up’ as noted in the facts relied upon, finds the continued participation of the Applicant poses an unacceptable risk to, prejudice or undermine the image, interests or integrity of racing.

“Accordingly, the reviewer is satisfied the decision to suspend the Applicants trainers licence pursuant to Australian Rule of Racing 8 (z) pending the outcome of the aforementioned (7) charges is proven.”

Currie is again expected to seek a stay of proceedings from QCAT.

The full review can be viewed here.

Jockeys should boycott this player, if the race clubs don't.

The racing machine is full of false sycophants, all just wanting to get any dollars floating around!! ie c Williams d Oliver. Will go Anywere say anything to ride average animals just to make every one feel they are good guys. Craig you can not insult!! He has no pride whatsoever!! They do not care who they ride for. That's what racing is doing. And the ones teaching the young jockeys are telling them to copy Damian and Craig ! Go figure

They have managers who do the form and they try and get the best mounts possible. It’s just business! I’m sure we all buy products from companies who are doing plenty of immoral things.

More likely a delaying tactic by QRIC to allow the police more time. Phones seized and large amounts of information downloaded. A few of the rats on the sinking ship starting to think about rolling over in return for a more favourable outcome for them self. First to roll will get the best deal and may get back into the game sooner.
The texts supposedly grabbed include much more than the alleged harping of horses. Word on the street is one jockey close to the stable has plenty of incriminating info re his own punting successes, and tactics employed to assist the same.
Currently QRIC is at Winx like odds to successfully prosecute, with The Gingerbread Man relying on a boil over to escape Barnett’s net.
This will be all over before the carnival
