Referenced in the Rosehill thread.

Trialled like a bomb at Scone, looks talented, debuts in the Highway (R1) tomorrow. Cavanough sounds very bullish, and has obviously told the owners to empty their pockets, because it's $16 into $3.7!

I'm on - not at top odds - but at much better than current trading. As much as I loved the trial, you have to seriously question the current price with a horse making its debut in a Highway - that won't be a gimme.

Happy to be on though and expect to see a nice horse who will jump and run...and keep going.

I think it deserves to be favorite and I've backed it earlier but I'd prefer Lifesaver at $6 looking and the market this morning.

Pretty sure the winner will come from Another Sin and Lifesaver.

I have protest payout so all good. I actually had a small save on Lifesaver so if the protest gets up I win both ways!

LOL  No protest guarantee Scamanda? Must admit I did a quick double check to make sure WH still had it, haven't been betting with them until they introduced the boost feature. They were slow to react to the plunge.

Do they pay out on protests in multis too?
It's never happened to me yet, and hope it never gets to that but I suppose they would.

Good question. None of the 3 or 4 I've checked previously have riders, just say if your horse loses we'll pay you out. Worth checking.

Yesterday at TAMWORTH,Bret Cavanough (after winner the first 2 races) was told by MUNSIE to ask him

what is the plunge about?

Cavanough said

If it was to run in a maiden it would be 1.8

so we're going to do what is seemingly something that nobody else has ever done with success

running a first starter in a city c2

we have backed the horse and the punters have followed like sheep

We are running in a race worth 50k and if we win we get the bonus too....we are running for 70k***

***in actual fact the winner gets 33k and the bonus is 11k.(approx.)

(just trying to relay the story as told)

Thought the same for them but just checked and they explicitly state win bets only. Ladbrokes same.

A first starter at GOFORD(years back) won a provincial maiden(in a blanket finish) worth about 30k to the winner and was

RATED as 62

So, it would have to get a similar rating I reckon

The ratings tend to go with the money won.

I'll say 62 for next appearance

62? That's not how you rate them ( against a Gosford maiden ). The ratings of the other horses in the race today, margins and times are more relevant to assessing the true figure.

We are talking about what the NSW handicapper will give him.

You can have a guess if you like.

My guess, 56/57

Maidens that run in races, other than maiden races, MUST show a rating

Maidens in maidens, don't show a rating....in most cases, if I happen to be wrong here

Another Sin did not win a CITY race...it won a race in the CITY(keeping it to basics)

Below CITY is provincial..if we treat it as provincial it gets 62 or 61 for next appearance

based on a first starter winning a GOSFORD MAIDEN for the same prize-money

Because he got 6 kgs off Lifesaver.

That entitles him to be rated LESS than the runner up.
