An individual has allegedly opened fire on their own family in the latest mass shooting to rock the US.

The attack, which occurred near Houston, has left five people dead and two injured.

The suspect is believed to be a relative of one of the victims and is currently cornered by police in a nearby suburban street.

The incident took at place at the home of one of the victims.

A station helicopter has posted pictures of police chasing a Honda sedan possibly driven by the suspect.

The car has been corned in a dead end suburban street and is blocked by numerous police vehicles.

Officers have now taken cover behind their vehicle.

More to come…

No wonder Target this week asked their customers to leave their guns at home, and not bring them shopping with them.

It's a wonder Target doesn't rebrand itself ! On a more serious note , guns are only part of the problem , mental health and education needs a major injection .

What struck me about that stabbing in the mall was there was an argument in progress between the assailant and victim for, allegedly, 20 minutes. What was security doing ?

Yes, but without guns and with only a knife, it is much harder to kill people....

Or at least much slower..

Yes, Guns don't kill people.

They just allow people to kill more people, more efficiently and quicker.

You will find today, Security don't want to get involved. For fear of attack themselves or being sued.

I have seem many people (inc security) get involved in many domestic arguments only to have both parties turn around and attack the person trying to help.

Six people are dead, including four children and two adults, after a rogue gunman in the US shot up his family in a suburban street on Thursday.

Detective Ron Hickman said that the "gunman was believed to be the father of at least two of the children."

One child, a young girl, was airlifted to hospital but died shortly afterwards.

The lone survivor suffered a gun shot to the head but was able to call police to telll them that the suspect was going to a local restaurant to kill more members of the family.

A witness at the scene told the Houston Chronicle that the shooting arose out of a domestic dispute.

"The shooting involved someone who left the family," said the witness.

Detective Ron Hickman said that the wife of the suspect and the mother of two of the children was currently out of the state.

The shooting occured at a house near the deceased childrens primary school, Lemm Elementary.

US News networks broadcast a live stream of the tense stand off

Sounds bad Bright Day .     At first I thought it was all happening in South West Sydney .
And I almost forgot the 5 ladies walking to work who died at the hands of [Random] Madmen. That was just in Brisbane for most .

In many cases there is a guilty party and this very dangerous area of destroying others family unit , emotionally, Financially by morally bankrupt people , trigger a reaction.
We sometimes pay a terrible life for our total disregard for the vows we take.

A Florida man shot his daughter this afternoon, then killed his six grandchildren -- ranging in age from 2 to 11 -- before turning the gun on himself, authorities said.

The Gilchrist County Sheriff's Department identified the alleged shooter as 51-year-old Don Charles Spirit, but gave no other details about the suspect.

Police said they received a call from the family's home at about 4 p.m., but that no one was alive once they arrived.

The other victims were identified by law enforcement officials as Sarah Spirit, 28; Alanna Stewart, 2; Brandon Stewart, 4; Destiny Stewart, 5; Johnathon Kuhlmann, 8; Kylie Kuhlmann, 9; and Kaleb Kuhlmann, 11.

Don Charles Spirit had a criminal record, according to police, who did not provide details.

The incident took place in the town of Bell in Gilchrist County. Bell has a population of about 350 people and is located some 30 miles west of Gainesville, Florida.

i just think its so bad when they involve liddle kids.  OK,,,you cant cope.  there are family problems.  we get that.
like that case down near Wagga.   obviously some sort of stress and him not coping with family problems between him and the wife.
but gee whiz.  top yourself if you must, and life is all too much for you.   and the missus if you are that mad at her.  but give the kids a chance to live their lives , and not suffer for your stress and mistakes.  let the kids live.
why do these angry people have to take it out on the kids ?  i just dont get that at all.
when reports say along the lines of he was a normal happy bloke but something pushed him, IMHO he must have had some sort of flaw in his make up all along, to go and kill the kids.
and he loved those kids so much ?  right !  so much he could stand over his little daughter and see her cower in terror as he pumped the shots into her little face ??
thats not love.   no loving parent does that.
i just think its selfishness .  the person cant cope with life and wants out, so they think the rest of their family should go with them so they cant be happy and live life either.
if i cant live and be happy neither should you.
i just can not imagine a father or grandfather blasting the kids to death.  and it wouldnt be quick and painless.  you dont work thru 6 kids without at least half of them knowing whats coming.
its all so sad and terrible.  poor little kids.

How good are guns, and how good is it to be a white Cop in the States!!!
You can chase after and shoot an unarmed black kid 6 times and get away with it.....USA, USA, USA.
Thats now over 400 deaths by police officers this year in the States. How cool is that!! German cops only managed to kill 8 people this year, whilst Britain and Japan a deplorable 0. Lift your game lads!!!

Q'land have managed 3 in a week according to the media & I think you'd have to be in the shooters' boots to have a clue about the choices to be made & time to make them. A toy gun? Was the copper supposed to have esp or xray vision?
Experience is something you gain a few minutes after you could have used it!

Cynicism  at its best.

Police have a thankless job.

Why don't you read the facts or evidence before going off half cocked ?
