For those interested see below the 2018 Japan Cup. Good win by the 3 yr old filly. She also broke the track record (2400m) and ran a time of 2:20.6

Australian racing is only good up to 1400m in terms of world standards when it comes to depth/quality in numbers

The time that Almond Eye ran the 2,400 metres of the Japan Cup is a gobsmacking 2.20.6 - to put that in perspective when Secretariat won the 1973 Belmont Stakes won by 31 lengths the time was 2.24.

Sky showing a lot of Japan racing now.
But, I can't warm to it. Their culture is very inclusive, they pissed the Magic Man off making him do exams which they can manipulate to make you fail. We make them welcomed in Australia but they don't. |

My thread for Almond Eye was posted under International forum 5 days ago, anyway. here we are.
Almond Eye also broke the WORLD RECORD, its the fastest 2400m ever run. And she was jogging. Absolutely insane.

Hugh Bowman speaks fluent Japanese and would have been a force if he was not suspended.
Time is irrelevant. Every race on turf in Japan is faster than anywhere in the world. |

They gotta do this.
They have to bring the 3 of them together and make it the greatest race in history. We have 3 absolute thoroughbred freaks, alive and running. Its hard to believe. It has to be organised. Just the 3 of them. The Three Queens. $20 million to the winner. Its a once in a lifetime what is happening. |

90% of the 150 years of Caulfield Cups was run on concrete. they couldnt get anywhere near 2.20 minutes. and we won a japan cup, as did new zealand. caulfield was a concrete track over a 100 times. Almond Eye running that time today, is completely insane. She would have beaten Better Loosen Up but a dozen lengths. And he was a serious horse.

It shows the incredible improvement in their breed and training practices. 30 years ago they were a 3rd world racing nation. Now they are world leaders. They did not whinge about numbers they got off their asses and improved their lot. |

Imagine how emotional the race would be if Winx was just jog trotting next to the 2 of them, and wins going away.
You would mark it down as a new public holiday. I reckon I would cry for a bloody year if Winx raced them both and won. People have to start making phonecalls, Waller, Debbie, the Enabled team, the Almond Eye team, the racing industry has to do this.

A decade or so ago the Japanese seemed about to take all before them. Not sure why, but the Euros seem far superior ATM.

That run today by Almond Eye, was absolutely mind boggling.
She was jog trotting to the 2300m mark, kicking a Japan Cup field to shreds, and running a world record, just jog trotting. Dont kid yourself. This one cant be under-estimated. We just saw one of the greatest runs in the history of world racing.

Times in Japan is fast because they start the timer after they begin, but can anyone quantify how much that shaves off? |

Their racing is absolute rubbish. Look at the stupid sushi train they sent over for our Cups this year. They can't improve if they are inclusive only. |

I can start to think a phenomenal time means something phenomenal when there is a margin to match. If you run so much faster than other horses you win by a long way. So what did she win by? 10 lengths? 15 lengths? 20 lengths? 1.75 lengths. So is the runner up a super horse too, because it also smashed the track record.

Do their population take much interest in horse racing ? I think they are a bit like Paz says. Not much interested outside their own little world ? Friends in Tokoyo this year searched high and low for a place to sit and watch the Melb Cup and ended up watching it on their phone as no one even knew what they were talking about when they went looking for a venue.

That illogical statement makes Humidor in the 2017 Cox Plate, the 2nd greatest horse in the world, and Benbatl this year just a few lengths off one of the greatest horses in a century. When Usain Bolt ran the world record, 9.58 seconds, Tyson Gay finished just one metre behind him. Illogical statement Tiaz. Logical in thought, but just watch this, and it proves its illogical 2009 world record for 100m. look how near the field is to Usain Bolt, who totally smashed the world record. It was the greatest recorded run in world history. Almond Eye yesterday ran the greatest recorded 2400m in world history, end of story. |

Tyson Gay ran the 3rd fastest time in recorded history in that same race. Tyson ran it in 9.71 seconds.
Almond Eye, even if she smashed the world record by 1 second, not 2 seconds, is mindboggling. The scary part, she was hard held for 2300m of it, jog trotting. It was one of the greatest runs in world history, no different to Usain Bolts 9.58 world record.

Brooke when there is so many variables in horwe racing it is hard to just use times to compare horses, Tlaz is right, if the winner is amongst the greats then logically the runner up is also. Winx's 2nd CP and the George Ryder demolition job in the wet were both far superior to her last 2 Cox Plates.
Surely you can't be serious using Usain Bolt to support your point? |
