He has an injury that ruled him out of the major spring races. They do hope or they did hope to attack a Sandown race.

Whilst I do not wish ill health on any horse it serves Williams right skipping all the autumn.

As I have said before it is NOT our horses or breeders that are at fault it is our trainers.

We see what they can do with already established and developed stayers, They fail dismally in developing them themselves.

Glancing over Weir’s many entries, I can only see 1 horse that started its career with him. The rest he picked up later in their careers.

Whichever one you’re thinking of horseshoe, you’ll get a nice price in the Cup!!

It would be a real boost for the NZ racing industry if a Kiwi trained (& bred) horse won the Melbourne Cup this year. It’s been a long time since the last one.....Ethereal, I think?

Surely Humidor is the nominal top weight ?

How embarrassing should our handicapper give that honour to a horse who has only won 2 group 3 races.

Best Solution wins again overnight in Germany, starting to put it together as a 4yo. Will get a run and still good odds available.

Well horseshoe he has the right trainer, only Murray and Darren Weir, look remotely like training a cup winner from our region of the world!

I see the winner, Sound Check, has been brought by Paul Moroney and will join his brothers Flemington stable for a tilt at the cups.

I just saw his last run in France behind Best Solution and to my eye, it was better than his german win.

He looks to be improving, have added him to the futures bets I have already taken @$81.00.

Yeah sorry I got my French mixed up with my German, which is even better as the German form is not bad when it comes to the Melbourne Cup.

Darren Weir's Humidor is the top weight for the Melbourne and Caulfield Cups, having been given a 58 kilogram burden in both events.

Saeed Bin Suroor's Best Solution, a German group 1 winner in its last start, is second in the weights on 57.5 kilograms. He will bid to give Godolphin its first ever Cup winner.

Aidan O'Brien's Lancaster Bomber, a group 1 winner in Europe, is on 57.5 kilos in the Melbourne Cup, his only entry, while the now German-trained Torcedor is on 57 kilograms. In Europe this year he has been close to the champion stayer Stradivarius on a number of occasions.

Well of those 8 highest weighted horse, there’s 3 that would have to be questionable runners:

Humidor - surely won’t go to Melb Cup, focus should be the Mackinnon Stakes 2000m
Lancaster Bomber - hasn’t met 2300m+ performance qualifying clause
Comin Through - hasn’t met 2300m+ performance qualifying clause

Although a top 5 placing by the latter 2 in the Caulfield Cup would get them into the Melb Cup.

Not that it matters because Boom Time has been spelled due to a tendon injury and is out of the spring carnival but I noticed he was allocated 55kg for the Caulfield Cup this year. Last year e carried 52kg to win the Caulfield Cup. I would of thought maybe he would of been given 56kg this year?
It's always good when a WA horse does well in the Eastern States or abroad.

Anyone word on which horses the O'Briens are bringing out?

There's some juicy odds around, however if I back all 10 to 15 of them it kind of defeats the purpose. LOL
