It's hard to get enthused about another WFA sprint but it is a G1 and fortunately this year it's the REAL Doomben 10,000 despite the BRC's hatchet job on history.

Noms below. Unlikely horses at top of the ballot have been italicised. Acceptances tomorrow. Max 16 starters.

Thoughts? Interest?

Top 4 in the market all figured in the quasi 10,000
Le Romain       $4
Impending      $4.50
Care To Think $7
English            $9

Given how thin it looks I wouldn't be surprised if Baker accepts here with Champagne Cuddles in lieu of the Fred Best.

They are taking a gamble, He is I suspect about 30 in order with his 103 rating.

It is a gamble that they probably need to take for him to be a genuine winning chance.

Care To Think probably should be doing the same.

Gee I like Impending here, had the best jockey on last start so he would'nt have a gut buster, if he's kept on won't lack horsemanship, who rides Redzel anyone?

Redzel's spelling Carioca.
Spieth pricked a hoof so not starting.
Invincible Gem going straight to Straddie.

Backed Impending e/w, think Le Romain is the winner with a decent barrier so will back him also.

You would think that none of the goodwood horses back up here.

There is no 3yo, including Champagne Cuddles, nominated who could win this at wfa, so they should all show up in the Fred Best.

Can not see anything from 16 down winning, so good luck if they show up.

In Her Time and Foxplay can run well but they will not win.

If Clearly Innocent or Takedown win, I will walk from Goulburn to Sydney naked.

So that leaves us with Impending, Le Romaine, English and Care To Think.

Care To Think and English will be giving the other two a start from the turn and so for me Le Romaine from Impending with English and Care To Think to fight out third.

Chamapagne Cuddles is the one who could run top four.

Barrier draw very important.
I could forgive In Her Time if she draws well as she seems to have been written off.

No real surprise to see Champagne Cuddles accept here - gives them a direct guide to horses they will meet in the Stradbroke. Don't think barriers will make much difference but she looks somewhat disadvantaged should she begin slowly.

Spieth's hoof prick must have been overblown or healing very quickly.

Wait a minute.

Spieth was every bit as good, if not better a run than Care To Think, and he is double the price. He is a definite hope of at least beating Care To Think home, as long as the hoof is right, and as punters we have to trust the trainer/s with that.

He is the one who I did not rate in my original post, but Spieth can win!

I give everything a chance. Endless Drama with the freshen up is interesting.

Being the cynic I am, I would imaging all the entires are trying in this race whilst the owners of geldings have other motivations ?

There is absolutely zero pace in this race ! Won't suit impending or champagne cuddles at all. If Schofield had half a brain which I'm not confident he does he would pop Le romaine outside the leader control the speed and win.

Agree, LR's All Aged run should be his model. Pity Collett's not available.

Pace won't be fast but should be okay with LR, MI, MG, English, CC and possibly Volpe all wanting an early possie. If Godolphin are on the ball they might well push up early to get a position on Impending. His Darley run showed he can pace it with the best when required

LR and CC best backed early.

Couple of interesting reports (which probably make no diff whatsoever but are useful to know).

Dunn reckons CTT is going VERY well on the track. Time to get on for the Stradbroke?

Sky reported that Le Romain worked as well as he had before narrowly going down to Trapeze Artist (arguably should have won). Dufficy: yeh but Gollogy uses and alarm clock LOL

I just can not see Care To Think running properly tomorrow and being fresh and fast enough for the 1350m in 2 weeks time no matter what weight he gets in the Stradbroke.

And you would be right to think that way 3bm, maybe next year things will be back in its proper place, this race brought on a penalty for the winner last year to his Stradbroke weight, but dates have changed and I don't think weights are out yet which gives the handicapper a free hit with weights, it makes this race imo tricky.

Weights Tuesday week? Tomorrow's result won't make much difference to most of those at the top of the ratings I expect (short of an unlikely runaway win). CTT and CC probably get a little more if they win or go very close tomorrow. CC should get in very light as a 3YO filly with as yet no open class  (but damn good 3YO)  form. I'm not expecting CTT to win tomorrow in which case he'll get a nice weight.
