Who are the main contenders not in the Preview? From yesterday’s races hard not to be impressed with Ollivander. Elected to go back from an outside draw, skittled on the turn and shunted very wide but just kept coming. Loved the way he knuckled down. I realise he had 2kgs from Long Leaf but swap runs and he wins easily imo.

Strong at the end of 1100m his only other start and looks a ready made racehorse.

Gee I know she did a bit wrong yesterday but Pure Elation stopped at the end of 1000m. Doesn’t inspire much confidence stepping out to 1200. Happy to bet around her. Assuming Sunlight won’t run. Anyone know Estijaab’s plans? Some value there.

Co-trainer Michael Hawkes said the Emirates Park-owned filly had impressed the stable with everything she’d done during the campaign and would now likely be set on a path towards the $3.5 million Group 1 in March.

“She’s a really nice filly and we’re lucky to have her,” Hawkes told Sky Racing.

“Since she stepped into our stable she’s been very relaxed and has shown a very good attitude and today really showed that.

“There’s no real plan (for her next start), hopefully she’s Slipper bound but we’ll just take it one step at a time.”

Sunlight headed to the Slipper I think. Pure Elation didn't breathe for 200m as MW tried to pull her back under him, so she was always going to be vulnerable last 100m

Surely Performer is staying in Sydney as the trainer really needs to win a big big big 2yo race and he will be on his home track!

Why does his trainer need to win a big big big 2yo race ?

How much bigger can he get, how would it improve his stock ?

Gai was ridiculed early in her career djebel for not being able to win the big 2yo races.

Waller is a different trainer but the way australian racing values two year old racing, if he can show he can prepare a 2yo for a diamond or slipper, he would get horses from some of the studs like Corrumbene and maybe Staurt Ramseys, group s well.

Personally I agree with you, djebel, but it is a reason that Snowden and now O'Shea when they left Godolphin were able to get horses from owners who value early returns, especially the syndicates.

As unlucky as Ollivander (1200m will suit )was Oohood in the other prelude had no luck at all and should have clearly won .
It’s my pick at this stage and was taken by Native soldier on Friday night so will have something smaller on it .
The only problem with backing winners ? You never have enough on....

Native Soldier was very impressive on Friday night
Keep an eye on him. Also look out for one trained by Robbie Griffiths called IGNITER
Big wraps , will debut in the prelude

Not according to the link you just posted since she was the winner of a sales restricted race.

Can confirm that Kinky Boom's prizemoney from @inglis_sales gets her into the Blue Diamond, it is counted. The MRC counts prizemoney from first three home in restricted races such as that for Blue Diamond. via @JGNorton82 @Racing @brentzerafa @Hkhutchi

Read the conditions, doesn’t it say if it comes to a ballot.
When the number of horses exceeds the number to be eliminated from any one particular clause listed above then such elimination shall be e ected by order of aggregate prizemoney received within such clause, lowest aggregate eliminated rst. Where prizemoney levels are equal, elimination shall be by lot.
PROVIDED HOWEVER, that prizemoney acquired by any horse other than the winner or place getters where a particular race is restricted to horses sold at a particular sale or restricted to any horse bred, trained or sold in a particular region
or State shall not be taken into account when assessing prizemoney for balloting conditions. Appearance money shall likewise not be taken into account when assessing prizemoney for the balloting conditions. Breeders bonuses and other bonuses received by horses in respect of any race shall also not be taken into account when ssessing prizemoney for balloting conditions.

Seems clear enough.  Ballott by prizemoney, Inglis placegetter earnings counts

This is f$#king ridiculous.

Lets get it over with. Make the Magic Millions a group 1, make the Karaka Blue Diamond reality and then make the Inglis Slipper, and restrict all those races to runners from those sales.

Can't disagree. Inglis and MM are in competition with Inglis spending BIG bucks in future years on restricted races. Prizemoney shouldn't count unless it's open to all comers. Alternatively clubs should restrict other qualifiers eg BD Preludes to non-Inglis (etc) horses.

Restricted sales races for two year olds aren't too bad, in terms of quality. They are diabolical for older horses, witness that travesty of a 2000m race during the Caulfield carnival. On the one hand I agree with sentiments above, but on the other hand it would be a shame to see a horse like KB miss out, who's an obvious talent and now second fave. Can't blame connections for preferring the big dollar races.

Maybe an option is to count prize money for these races as you would for a standard Saturday metro race. Best option of course is to have NONE of these races but quite clearly that's not going to happen.

Other horses other than Inglis purchases aren't allowed to run and are therefore denied that chance of earning a lot of prizemoney for them to qualify, so it isn't fair for non Inglis horses.

Maybe judge you are part correct when you say, for these purposes, you treat the prizemoney like a standard saturday race.

Poor old Encryption, who is the poster child for home bred at Godolphin, by Lohnro out of Guelph, has got no chance, unless he won every race he ran in!
