I still don't get it. Some of say the corporates let you on for reasonably large bets and your account is well in the black: others say they are only letting you on for microbets. Now either someone is telling porkies or the corporates act in a way that beyond my comprehension.Wacko Are they madly erratic? Do they have a strategy? I can't work it out.

Your right they wouldn't Hoffy... but B365 have a good little feature called the Max Bet button. You login, click in and it will tell you what you'll get on BEFORE depositing funds. I find that significantly less frustrating.

With William Hill you gleefully deposit funds, try to have a bet, they reject it, you then withdraw the whole deposit and then have William Hill send you an email saying you have to turnover the funds, at which point, you ring William Hill and abuse the life out of the poor customer support person, at which point you finally get them to withdraw the funds, which will take 3 days +.

Providing he's healthy, the clapper will be running in the Cox.

Has to be a decent chance of running second? Closing splits were exceptional in the Craven Plate. Granted they walked most of the race, but the horse is flying and if he's ever going run a strong 2000m it's this prep. He wasn't far off the place getters in this race last year, and that was a much stronger field.

Winx then daylight - but it will be a small field maybe 8 or 9 runners so place betting will be interesting.
Given Winx will win her 22nd in a row at the prohibitive odds of $1.15 or so, the value might be in finding the horses who will place behind her....

This is the likely field I have at this point. Of course there is the potential for this to change over the next week and a half, but hopefully we get one more so we have a tbird dividend in the race.

1 Happy Clapper (P Webster/D Oliver) 59
2 Gailo Chop (DK Weir/M Zahra) 59
3 Sense of Occasion (K Lees/C Brown) 59
4 Folkswood (C Appleby/K McEvoy) 59
5 Winx (CJ Waller/H Bowman) 57
6 The Taj Mahal (A O’Brien/) 56
7 Royal Symphony (T McEvoy/D Yendall) 49.5

Possibles: Kaspersky, Hartnell, Levendi

ODDS
$1.20 Winx
$18 Gailo Chop, Royal Symphony
$21 Folkswood, Happy Clapper
$34 Hartnell (unlikely)
$51 The Taj Mahal, Levendi (unlikely)
$101 Sense of Occasion, Kaspersky (unlikely)

Disappointing turnout of that proves accurate but not unexpected with Winx around.

Agree. Aside from HC it's a terrible field. The 3yr old RS has done nothing.

Is Winx that good or are our middle distance horses that bad? Thought the same thing with SYT. His adverseries were arguably weaker. Zipping ?

Why not - 3% strike rate in Group 1's.  Will be consistent with his approach

Dont know why Tosen Stardom may not go to the Cox Plate, would be an honour for him to run second to Winx when she wins her 3rd Cox Plate.  People will remember that.  Not many would have even heard of her other option the Catlana.

Still plenty of money to be made in 2nd and 3rd. Plenty of owners would be happy to get a start.

It's unfortunate that this situation happens but Aussie horse owners simply don't care to take horses overseas and would rather just win the Cox over and over for the easy money rather than try to prove the horse a champion against the world.

I don't buy into the international campaign after this. Maybe 1 run at Ascot before off to the breeding barn.

Melbourne carnival turning into quite a flop. Caulfield Guineas and Cup blow outs on biased tracks, Cox plate small field and foregone conclusion. They really need a strong derby day and cup to save it.
