Is there a reason why Murray Baker is running his Caulfield Cup favourite 7 days before the Cup?
He took 3 weeks between the Feehan and Underwood races.

I started with nothing and still have most of it left

So the Caulfield Cup isn't the race she's headed for Tlaz? It's worth heaps more. $1.8M to the winner vs $600K saturday.

And the 3 weeks between the Feehan and Underwood were by design?

Seems odd. I've just traded off my Caulfield Cup bet on her. Small profit so all good.

AU/NZ horses haven't turned into such Eurowussses that racing on two Saturdays in a row is a big deal have they?Shocked

Bonneval needs the miles .   She has had it too easy going into the 2400 C. Cup.   Only 2 runs this time up = 1600 & 1800 ...   Needs this hit out..
She won the 2400 NZ Oaks at run 4 and the Randwick Oaks at run 5 last time in.

Will Williams do it with Aloft?  two 2400 runs in a row 7 days apart.

The way I see it I've traded to a very moderate profit and still have Francis Of Assisi running.
Anything can happen. She can break down, not pull up well so scratched from the Caul Cup. This way I'm in front no matter the result. Two runs in 7 days for a horse that needs miles in her legs isn't the best scenario, imo.

Happy to sit back and watch Francis kick their butts. Big smile

Bart Style. =      Poor run in the MacKinnon then sail home in the Cup
3 days later .   What a thief.   Think big , Viewed, are two who ran last to first.
Aloft won't get out of reverse to win tomorrow ... lol....
They fed him for a month after run 1 so " fair suck of the sausage " .
What's that old saying ( last start 3rd's within 7 days )

You might be okay scamanda as Archie Alexander says his Herbert Power winner is going to back up. That puts her back tow second emergency.

Outstanding run by JV - expect him to start Caulf Cup fav. Just HUGE

Bonneval run also good under the circumstances.

Abbey Marie & Inference solid but not likely to run top 3 in the Cup.

Hartnell horrible & off this run - Single Gaze should set sights on the Mackinnon & Jon Snow....not sure what to make of him

Green is Gold.

Boss only got 10 meetings for destroying Hartnell's & others chances.

What is the Twitter talk re Ventura Storm?

He is a top 3 chance in this race. His owner said on Fri morn on radio that he's warming to his CC chances now after thinking he was only a MC horse, quite positive. So seems nothing wrong with him (maybe??), yet keeps blowing on betfair...

When you say he is blowing on betfair, how much can you get on for ?

I am starting to get excited that my $2501 shot for the CC/MC double - Kellstorm might scrape into the CC field. Full brother to Order of St George & trained by D.Weir.

Wide open race that's for sure.

Solid in all betting compared to last week is Ventura Storm ( 4 runs 2200m and beyond ) 3 wins & 1 second.    Amelie's Star ( bless her ) the pea ,   Lord Fandango 's nice win yesterday for a tote ticket at odds .

Baker admits he is baffled by reports in the Australian media that Bonneval had sustained an injury during the race that could place her Caulfield Cup spot in jeopardy.

“I’m not really sure what they are talking about as she pulled up in good shape and trotted up perfectly on Sunday morning,” he said.

“There’s nothing amiss with her and she will be ready to run the race of her life.

I've since discovered she had lacerations, but they seem to be superficial.
