    Posted: 12 Apr 2013 at 9:50am
Thought I would start a fresh thread to make it easier to follow the challenge.

Gai has her name to 6 purchases for a total spend of 1,830,000.00

Our challenge is to select 6 lots spending no more than Gai did.

We may select unsold lots using the RESERVE price on that lot.

Lots will be followed until the end of their 3yo season only.

Prize money earn't to total spend will determine if we have beaten Gai or not.

These were Gai's lots:

Lot Sire Dam Cost
1 Redout's Choice Absolut Glam 600000
200 More Than Ready Mary Marvel 100000
287 Flying Spur Ready Magic 230000
312 More Than Ready Samantha Miss 400000
330 Snitzel Sky Love 240000
402 More Than Ready Wasimah 260000

    Total  1,830,000

Remember, 6 lots only, total spend no more than 1.83 mill.
Good luck, I will post my list shortly.

Why should you only have 6 if you have bought more for the same money?

She bought 6 lots, but about 20 from the sales will go to her.

Because, as I stated in the original thread, Gai gets paid a fee from certain parties to select yearlings.

I wanted to see if I could do just as well by "buying" sight unseen and without good knowledge of pedigree and conformation etc. In other words, could I out-luck her experience.

If you use more than 6 then we no longer have a level playing field.

If we go underbudget can we have a couple more I'm having trouble spliting up which one's I want.  Obviously I have to leave out the real late maturers though.  You could have 6 for the stable and 2 or 3 in through stable interests (similar to all the other buyers ending up in her stable).  You could keep the figures separate if you want.

You cannot see that you having say 8 is not level with Gai having 6?....okkkayyyyyyyyy ..it is just a bit of fun and we are all free to do whatever we please.

As I have said twice already....I want the same amount of lots without spending more than Gaie did.

How about we keep our personal selections on the other 'beat Gai' thread then collate those who want to 'play' into another specific one. I had to prune hard to get to 10, let alone 6 & under the target Ouch

Yeah just a bit of fun Repent Thumbs Up, but when you go to an auction it is the amount of money you spend that matters not how many lots you buy.

If I go to a home auction to buy an investment property, and one home is worth say $1 million, and then I go to another auction and buy say two $500,000 homes in another suburb or town, then I am taking a risk that my two homes can make me a return as good as the $1 million dollar property. That is the risk I take by buying two lesser valued homes. While the person who brought the $1 million home is risking that his one investment is going to make him a big return.

The number of homes is irrelevant, it is the price and what you spent which is relevant.

But as I aid I like this Fantasy Yearling Sales game and so I will follow my lots with great interest Thumbs Up

Homes and horses?..Come on mate.LOL
I can see a 1 million dollar home standing there. I might like to think I see a yearling that might win a mill plus standing there.....but that is.....ah forget it.

For the 4th and final time...ah...forget it.

LOL

I think to be fair, if someone spends less than 1.83m it should be added to their collected prizemoney. In other words if you spend 1.23m (600K) less than Gai then you only need to win 600K less than Gai to be a better selector than Gai.
