I'd heard this morning Moudre pulled up with a niggle, but can't find anything now.

If Moudre is fine, he'd slot in between Unusual Suspect and Lost In The Moment.

Youd have to think Southern Speed is extremely unlikely for the Melbourne Cup now. Like Moudre looks like something has gone amiss with her

Getting word Glencadam Gold will get 2kg. Takes him to 27th in the order, effectively guaranteed a run.

Tanby 0.5kg takes him to 45th under my calculations, just behind Ironstein and in front of Sabrage. Scarface can confirm.

Fat Al got 1.5kg for his Epsom win, but won't head here.

Andy, I'm sure it's irrelevant as you've said, but seriously - a horse scrambles in by half a head in an Epsom and gets penalised 1.5kg for a Melbourne Cup?

Yep, behind Ironstein.

Though Sabrage wouldn't be running?

Yeah, Sabrage probably won't be running (although I think he's still chasing a berth). But in terms of the official order, that's who would be next.

Andy, am I right in believing that with Glencadem Gold having beenpenalized 3.5kgs for the Melbourne Cup, no matter how impressive he is in the Caulfield Cup he can only go up a further 1kg ?

djebel, there doesn't seem to be anything to that effect in the race conditions (see page 3 of link), but others may know more:

This article suggests the maximum re-handicap bit the dust in 2006:

Ethiopia has a rating of 108, interestingly the same current rating as Maluckyday, who ran 2nd in the cup in 2010...anyone know what Maluckyday's rating prior to that Cup in 2010 was..?

Thank you. That's exactly the answer I was looking for thanks

Removal Of Maximum Limit On Aggregated Weight Penalties: Previously a horse could not be re-handicapped by more than 4.5kg in the aggregate; but in 2006 the handicapper will have complete discretion to penalise winners of certain types of races as he sees fit, "especially where a horse has won more than 1 important lead-up race.

Pretty sure he went into the Saab with a 90 rating and went into the cup itself with 103 rating. Came out of the cup with a 106 rating.

Interesting market by Sportsbet

The price for TdB is $17 in the locally trained market, and $21 in the normal market, seems strange.

Looks good, but is a bit short in betting for mine, won't be much difference in price come Cup Day, unless he does something spectacular in his lead up run.

I doubt that, as they know what race they want him peaking in.

Had the right pace to perform on Saturday a smart run race .... Gave Tanby 3.5 K  and will be improved .....     Tanby is no slouch as he ran 2 nd to Dunaden in the lead up to last years Cup getting 5K
At run 3 this time , would have to say ..good effort W=59.....    2 nd best time figures on that meeting ....        be careful taking early prices a day to day proposition .
Love to see him go well for the connections .

There is one concern I have with Maluckyday, he may have been wound up to win on Saturday to get him into the Caulfield Cup.

I know they have said they don't care about the CC that much, but I'm not so sure.

If your not banned by Bet365, they have Midas Touch @ $201.

Fully qualified, and runs this weekend, I think he is ready to fire this prep.

Agree Scarface that connections of Maluckyday are still interested in the CC as a lead-in to the MC, as they wouldn't have paid up for him 3rd accept in the CC as a non-qualified horse.....otherwise a waste of money!
