I'd also say Tac De Boistron is more likely than less likely based on weather forecasts and the assumption he will run if track not too firm

In Melbourne? Of stayers?

In Antarctica, training sled dogs, in Melbourne, training stayers, and all points in between.

TOP jockey Craig williams is adamant Dunaden is more likely to win the Caulfield Cup than go back-to-back in the Melbourne Cup.

Williams was beaming after riding the French horse in a strong gallop at Werribee this morning, declaring the reigning Melbourne Cup winner better and sharper than he was a year ago.

“He can win the Caulfield Cup. In fact I think he’s a better chance of winning the Caulfield Cup than Melbourne Cup," Williams said.

The France stayer worked over 1600m, running home over 1000m in 1min4.4sec in his first serious workout.

They are saying he may potentially run, after running in the Caulfield Stakes this weekend. That's my point - on Sunday, he was running in the Herbert Power, yesterday they'd booked Bowman for the Caulfield Stakes. They change their mind frequently.

As for Tac de Boistron - this is a highly unlikely scenario (it won't happen) but imagine we get to the point where they have 7 horses on equal footing for the final 6 spots.

Say they have to choose between Glencadam Gold, Maluckyday, Niwot, My Quest for Peace, Seville, Tac de Boistron and Zabeelionaire. Who do they make first emergency?

I would say he'd be less likely than TdB at this stage, and I'm happy to put a line through him

Would like to see him line up though

All locals would get a run.

Quest for Peace or Tac De Boistron misses out based on international rating.

I reckon we'll see the real Zabeelionaire  up to the 2400m of the Herb Power on Saturday. Though we'd better, otherwise he probably doesn't deserve a spot in the Caulfield Cup.

Istidaad kicking strongly, he's 2 lengths clear, Crawl gets out from a well back and old Mustard is grinding home... Hang on, Treasury Notes gets out from the back and she'll blouse them all!

andy can we get the order of entry for those 41 gallopers.

I am convinced Winchester can run well but he might be better of at Flemington and I am interested if he runs in this as a lead into cup week.

Surely, Tommy Berry deserves to keep the ride on G Gold! He is on fire. 3 winners on Saturday!

See D Beirne says he has G Gold 2/1.

I'll be very interested to see how Bianmick goes this weekend, needs to win the Herbert Power to qualify for CC. Liked his last run in the JRA Cup when wide all the way.  Seems to relish wet tracks and looking at the long range forecast may well get one next weekend.  Currently on 51kg for the CC.  Andy or anyone, what sort of penalty would he be looking at if he won the Herbert?  I know he's stepping up in class but I have him at $351 (minutes after the JRA) e/w and in a few doubles, so I'm hoping for a big effort Saturday. I also have Gatewood in a number of CC/MC doubles....so with any luck one of them will qualify.

Do people happily agree with this ?

Did Tanby qualify due to his "win" on Saturday ?

Maluckyday had to give him 3.5 kgs and yet the winner qualifies for a major race. CRAZY.

All he needed to do was run top 3 in a Group race that's 1600M or further (I think) or win a listed race. Not that difficult. I doubt they are that fussed about the Caulfield Cup.

Winning probably doesn't get Tanby in anyway, doesn't give him a penalty big enough.

Maluckyday hasn't been placed in a Group race or won a Listed race beyond 1600m since August 1 2011.

I believe the Herbert Power winner doesn't get a penalty. Someone may correct me on that. They get an automatic run, but no penalty. So if Bianmick or Gatewood won, they'd stay on the same weight.

I think a horse has to have won a minimum of $60,000 for finishing in the first five in a race over 1600 metres or further since 1 August 1 2011.
