Can someone please post the full field for the 1984 Caulfield Cup. Can not find it on the internet anywhere and need to check the spelling of the name of the horse ridden by Dye. Sounds like La Gradia??

Thanks in advance

Thanks Guys! For the life of me I couldn't find it. Will save Ozeform for future! I even listened to the race on youtube however I couldn't hear it fully.

What about the spread of weights 49.5 to 58.5 = 9kg. Gives high weighted a chance as well as the lower weighted horses a chance, compared to todays compressed weights.

Totally wrong race! He actually said '1984 caulfield cup I went over to ride a horse for Peter Vella called La Gridia.'.

I am now searching his rides that year in case he got the race wrong

Got to the bottom of it. He rode it in the Herbert Power and the track was hard so it was scratched however it then raced in the MC Cup after that.

Kanga,

For future reference for the Melbourne Cup, Caulfield Cup and Cox Plate results save -

and select the other races from the top menu.   It's up to date.

I was there as a kid and I backed Affinity at 10/1.

Would have thought '84 was before RS Dye's time.

Great last 200m by Bill Collins, and no hesitation in calling the 1/2 head, 1/2 head finish between the three despite being out of stride and variously tiring, plugging and finishing.  Star

Browndog, some footage or at least audio of that Cox Plate would be just magic mate.
